Job Title: Systems Administrator - Experienced Unix, Linux, Windows Server, Windows Desktop

Job Description:
You will provide services related to monthly/quarterly patching for a defined set of client's Utility Real Time domain.  These services will include patch review, testing, deployment and release management coordination.  Additionally, these services will actively monitor all incoming patches from application support teams to ensure that the client's IT systems are patched to an acceptable level in alignment with internal corporate policies.  Additionally, you will actively monitor all incoming patches from application support teams to ensure that the client's IT systems are patched to an acceptable level in alignment with internal corporate policies.  It is expected that the provider of these services will be able to provide resources legally able to perform activities on active NERC CIP applications.  It is expected that client will not incur any application outages as a result to patching activities.  It is expected that the provider will own all change control tasks including: test evidence, change control ticketing and stakeholder communication for patching activities adhering to established client's management model procedures.


Deliverables will include:

  • Monthly/Quarterly patch discovery, assessment, testing, and certification
  • Monthly/Quarterly patch deployment on servers and workstations as well as test evidence collection and maintenance in alignment with client's  audit requirements
  • Proper change control/release management ticket execution in alignment with client's  management model procedures
  • Proper change control/release management communication and coordination in alignment with client's management model procedures
  • Support any requested NERC CIP evidence requests tied to patching
  • Proper coordination with client's corporate Infrastructure groups (Cloud and Infrastructure (C&I), Utilities Communications (UCOMM), Technical Services and IT Application Support Teams as necessary
  • Vendor relationship management – interface with appropriate vendors when troubleshooting activities arise from patching
  • Bi-weekly report detailing patching activity status
  • Quarterly review of patching program with client's IT leadership
Activities:
  • Maintain & Patch Unix/Linux Operating systems in accordance with standard security policies
  • Manage user accounts
  • Maintains and Manages backups of enterprise systems
  • Maintains and Manages system monitoring software
  • Supports and maintains other software installed in Unix Environment
  • Deploy/validate patches in test and prod env
  • Weekly/Quarterly Reporting
  • Understanding of Change Control/Release Management
  • Maintain patch tracker and schedule

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years Unix, Linux, Windows Server, Windows Desktop
  • 1-3 years Backup Administration Experience
  • Creating and executing appropriate tests for patching
  • Interpreting and communicating vendor release notes
  • NERC/CIP Cert a plus, but can be acquired once on site
  • No travel, work at client site
