Senior Experience Designer
Location: New York, NY
Type: Fulltime, contract or Right-to-hire

The Senior Experience Designer will work under the direction and guidance of more senior team members based on project assignments, assisting with ESD activities and deliverables for complex consumer and corporate digital initiatives. The Senior Experience Designer will be involved in projects from the beginning, and maintain the experience vision from concept to finished product.

Responsibilities
• Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes other experience designers, visual designers, copywriters, technologists, business analysts, strategists, and project managers within Isobar and our client counterparts
• Plan and conduct user research and requirements-gathering work sessions
• Conceptualize and design user interfaces and information architecture
• Create personas, journeys, scenarios, wireframes, prototypes, workflows, interaction and experience models, and functional specifications
• Explain design work product and articulate design rationales to both internal and external team members
• Demonstrate listening and questioning skills to understand the business and design challenge
• Plan and conduct usability testing, to evolve designs based on the findings
• Participate in quality assurance testing activities from an ESD perspective
• Aggregate and communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale, both verbally and visually
• Be a constant advocate for great user-centered design
• Participate in client presentations, workshops and discussions
• Act as mentor to more junior team members

Required Experience / Skills
• At least 3-4 years of experience in digital design practice
• Experience with user research and usability testing
• Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles, methodologies, best practices and approaches, particularly as applied to web- and mobile-based applications
• Demonstrated experience and portfolio examples of design problem-solving efforts for digital products or services
• Excellent communication, organization and team interaction skills
• Able to function as a thought leader as well as an individual contributor
• Commitment to constantly improving one's skills, staying current with developments and trends in the industry, and sharing this knowledge with others
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as InDesign, Axure, and web-based frameworks
• Knowledge of channel factors and considerations (responsive and adaptive web, native mobile and tablet, TV, wearables)
• Knowledge of web technologies and associated accessibility standards (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Native)
• Familiarity with analytics and how they affect design decisions

Nice to Have
• Master's degree in Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Human-Computer Interaction or a related design or behavioral science discipline
• Experience with multi-channel design efforts for major brands
• Experience working in a consulting environment
• Knowledge of the following domains as they relate to ESD: storytelling and narrative, brand and emotionally persuasive design, activation tactics and SEM, behavioral economics, game mechanics, data visualization, and service design
