The diverse staff includes a team of respected engineers, inspectors, and technicians spread out throughout New Jersey and New York. Efforts include some of the largest transportation projects in the New York Metropolitan area such as the Raising of the Bayonne Bridge, Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing, NJ Turnpike Widening, and Fulton Street Transit Center.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Engineer of Construction for PATH, the position will be at the Resident Engineer's offices at the Journal Square Transportation Center.  The work includes the inspection of projects mainly involving Electrical electronics, electrical substations, high tension wires, A/C utility services, controls, security and camera systems, fire alarm systems, building management systems, intercoms, microwave and radio systems.   

Immediate need for an Engineer who has the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written to the Resident Engineer, other Port Authority Engineers and staff, contractors/consultants, etc. Ability to read plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives, inspection reports, time and material records, and document unit price work. Identify potential extra work issues and keep Resident Engineer advised. Prepare estimates of extra work. Prepare related sketches and documentation. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness to the RE.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five years or more experience in construction inspection
  • OSHA 10 hour certification or more required
  • Ability to pass a SWAC background check
  • Valid Driver's license required
  • Ability to stay late or come early as needed.  Night and weekend shifts will be required
