We are looking for an Automation Engineer in Houston, TX for permanent placement.

The Automation Engineer serves as an integral position for the legacy engine upgrade project team. The project team focuses on software development, startup, commissioning and electrical troubleshooting for various phases of legacy engine upgrade projects.
  • Engine Control Panel PLC software development and design of related electrical/instrumentation systems as and startup & troubleshooting of those systems. Programming, calibration, and configuration of a variety of engine control systems such as ignition, fuel, and cooling systems.
  • Create engine data communications to local and remote collection systems according to the project application. Use advanced air / fuel equivalence ratio algorithms to maintain customers’ emissions requirements.
  • Coordination of commissioning progress & engine stop and starts with pipeline operating company.
  • Performing tasks as directed by commissioning engineer, project engineer or project manager to support related activities.
  • Complete Factory Acceptance Test report and provide to the customer for acceptance.
  • Post commissioning field support over the phone as required.
  • Conduct warranty and non-warranty service calls to support the customer with various troubleshooting issues. Provide service call report to the project manager.
  • Provide engineering with feedback from customers and field service calls to improve products and designs.
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent of work experience
  • Ability to work in field construction environments
  • Strong working knowledge of controls and automation systems specifically in the natural gas pipelines including engine driven equipment, Motor Control Center (MCC) and process industries
  • Must be comfortable in handling controls projects in excess of $250,000
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to read, support the development of, and interpret P&ID’s and other related schematics
  • Travel requirements range from 30% to 60% per year
