HM&E Technician

Position Summary: 
Life Cycle Engineering is seeking an engineering technician to join our team to provide NSWCPD Mayport Waterfront Support and contribute to the technical expertise we provide to our clients with regard to the Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) aspects of ships as well as the application of these capabilities to other, if required, non-HM&E equipment.
 
Contract Requirements:
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Clearance  
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate preliminary arrangements and provide on-site technical consulting during all INSURV Inspections and shipboard repairs on all Mayport Waterfront ships
  • Provide Program Manager Representative Support (PMR) of HM&E system installations and repairs.
  • Meet with ships force, IMA Technicians & Planners, and the Maintenance Team to address parts and logistics deficiencies related to shipboard repair for the NSWCPD customer.
  • Interfacing with ships force, IMA technicians, systems suppliers and OEM’s. Perform similar functions relative to non-marine systems.
  • Design and/or review of shipboard and/or industrial electrical and mechanical systems and associated equipment.
  • Assist with the leadership and mentoring of junior members of the team as projects and the company grow.
  • Perform engineering analysis to determine system and/or equipment design and operating parameters.
  • Review operating parameters and select/recommend appropriate equipment.
  • Provide pier side logistics support to all waterfront ships, and distance support when ships are deployed.
  • Troubleshooting new system upgrades onboard US Navy ships as well as conducting shipboard inspections (ship checks) for data collection and configuration validation. 
Required/Desired Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two (2) – Five (5) years of relevant experience in the operation, maintenance, testing and repair of HM&E equipment installed on U.S. Navy surface ships or submarines.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing, reviewing or conducting formal tests of HM&E equipment onboard U.S. Navy surface ships is desired.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend NAVSEA Installation Drawings.
  • Must have 4 years of practical experience and understanding of OMMS-NG, or CDMD-OA configuration databases.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Proficiency in MS Project and Visio is desired also.
  • Capable of functioning effectively in a team environment.
 
Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
