SQL Server/ Developer/DBA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Client is looking for a strong SQL Server Developer/DBA who will develop (60%) and administer (40%)

The incumbent works independently and relies on judgment and experience to complete job responsibilities. The incumbent possesses an extensive range of knowledge of practices and procedures within the field and acts a resource for less experienced team members. Work is varied and complex.This position is responsible for evaluating existing or proposed systems to structure and access databases.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Reviewing query performance and optimizing T-SQL code (Primary Job responsibility)
  2. Review the queries used for front-end applications and recommend best practices and optimization
  3. Designing and coding database tables to store the application's data
  4. Data modeling to visualize database structure
  5. Work with application developers to create optimized queries
  6. Very strong in stored procedures and functions
  7. Manage database design, creation, and maintenance.
  8. Analyze database requirements of the user department, applications programming, and operations.
  9. Submit recommendations for solutions that require definition of the physical structure and functional capabilities of SQL Server databases and require data security and data backup/recovery.
  10. Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and back-up/recovery activities.
  11. Facilitate root cause analysis on SQL Server database issues.
  12. Maintain technical documentation relating to SQL Server database management.
  13. Work with application, system architects and subject matter experts to evaluate the logical data models and design physical database structure; evaluate the impact of proposed changes to the physical database.
  14. Identify and resolve all database performance issues.
  15. Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across disciplines and departments.
  16. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and requirements.
  17. Demonstrate commitment to the Company's core values.
  18. Please note due to the exposure of PHI sensitive data – this role is considered to be a High Risk Role.

REQUIRED SKILLS::
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related engineering discipline or four (4) years of related experience
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of Relational Database Management experience, including database design and implementation, administration of multiple instances of SQL Server versions 2000, 2008, 2008 R2 and 2012,2014,2016
  • Proven work experience as a Senior T-SQL Developer
  • Expert in T-SQL Programming skills including query optimization, stored procedures, views, functions and triggers; ability to read, interpret and improve query execution plans
  • Expert in performance tuning, proactive monitoring and problem solving
  • Experience in SQL 2016 with heavy performance tuning.
  • Experience in SQL 2016 Always on availability group feature and it impact on performance of SQL queries.
  • Demonstrated experience in testing, debugging and optimizing T-SQL Code
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Organization, documentation, problem solving, and project management skills
  • Very Strong communication skills and ability to interact with all levels as well as external customers
