Lab Technician - Ore Characterization

Pay rate: $15-18/hr DOE

Summary:
Performs sample preparation work for ore characterization and mineralogy labs. Participates in housekeeping, safety and quality efforts. Interacts with senior mineralogy staff to manage workflow and priorities. Reports to Senior Lab Technician.

Responsibilities:
Participates in daily sample preparation and related work flow and priority work.
Specifically: works on comminution, blending, splitting, sizing, potting and other special sample preparation requirements for XRD, CEC, NIR, AMA, SEM and Optical Microscopy labs.
Maintains lab housekeeping, safety and quality requirements.
Supports equipment maintenance and service contracts.
Maintains consumable supplies with other technician staff.

Required:
At least 1-2 years hands-on experience in lab work related to mining and mineral processing operations (geological, mineralogical, metallurgical) including previous supervisory experience.
High school degree. Basic computer skills.
Ion Chromatography experience is required.
Experience with laboratory equipment - comminution, splitting, screening, polishing, blending etc.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Strong interest in training on and learning new laboratory methods.
Willingness to work with new lab technologies.
