Job Description
  • Seeking a computational architecture systems engineer for developing and integrating cloud-based technologies into secure, real-time simulation and training system architectures.
  • The Computational Architecture Engineer will assist in computational architecture development and integration of on-premise, cloud-based technologies into secure, real-time simulation and training system solutions.
  • High use of virtualization and software defined networking technologies to provide training application server clustering and integration via virtualized networks and man-machine I/O infrastructure is expected.
  • Relevant technologies and computational environments include VMWare vSphere, XenServer, GRID vGPU/pGPU, RHEL 6/7, Windows 10, Windows 2016 Server, ZFS Unified Storage (and other SAN technologies), and high-performance computing environments like HTCondor.
  • Application of best security practices in development, configuration, and integration of computational architectures and software to satisfy Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST 800-53r4 technical security controls is required.
  • Candidate should be self-motivated and possess the ability to collaborate effectively with teams to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
  • Candidate should possess in depth knowledge of diagnostic and testing tools for infrastructure performance and security compliance assessment.
  • Evaluate evolving on-premise, cloud-based technologies for applicability towards existing and new secure computing architecture designs for simulation and training solutions
  • Develop and integrate on-premise cloud technologies (virtualization, distributed computing, clustering) in next generation training systems and within current training system architectures
  • Develop computational architectures, software, and training systems solutions that satisfy RMF cybersecurity requirements
  • Develop and integrate virtualized ZFS based SAN and NAS storage.
  • Develop and integrate distributed High Performance Computing environments including virtualized GPU solutions for image generation and content delivery
  • Develop and document rapid, automated deployment solutions including cold start/cold boot procedures to support product integration and customer deliveries of training solutions and maintenance
  • Identify potential risks and issues, make and implement recommendations to management when escalation is required.
  • Develop and support baseline management of computational architecture documentation and software, including design descriptions and work procedures and use of code signing controls
  • Support development systems configuration and administration during software development and rapid prototyping of new architectures and solutions
  • Identify Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on system performance issues.
Education/Experience
  • The ideal candidate will possess experience with many/most of the skills listed below, and be willing to cross-train in other areas, as needed.
  • Required skills include development, configuration, and integration of virtualized processing, storage, networking, and I/O technology using on-premise, cloud-based technology.
  • Must have strong experience with heterogeneous operating system environments including Windows and Linux.
  • Must possess Layer 3 and Layer2 networking knowledge including VLAN, LACP, Trunking and IGMP/Multicast management.
  • Must have recent application experience with multi-level security implementations of virtualized computing architectures.
  • Candidates should be able to configure and support Identity Management implementations, including Active Directory and LDAP/NIS (RFC2307) including multi-factor authentication.
  • Proficiency in multiple software development and scripting languages is a plus.
  • Bachelors or higher in CS, EE, or related Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in many/most of the following areas:
  • XenServer or VMware or other equivalent virtualization technology
  • L2/L3 networking and network virtualization
  • Real-time software and I/O systems integration
  • Virtualized I/O
  • Data Distribution Systems (DDS) technology
  • Cross-platform and clustering applications & services management
  • Service-oriented, OMG, and/or FACE-compliant architectures
  • Secure software and computational architecture development
  • Multi-threading, multi-process, multi-platform distributed computing
  • Code signing and configuration management
  • Windows server and client installation, configuration, and management
  • Linux server and client installation, configuration, and management
  • Must be effective at time management, facilitating meetings, planning, execution, risks identification, management, and mitigation.
  • Ability to prepare resource, effort, and time estimates with a high degree of reliability.
  • Results driven with experience working in collaborative environments across organizations.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
