Position Summary:
The Database Administrator will participate in planning discussions with business stakeholders, end users and the development staff to determine how business problems and opportunities can be resolved. This position is development-focused with the primary role of working within application development and business teams in the support of feature development, reporting and data analysis. In addition, this position will work directly with the development architecture team to ensure ongoing analytical activities aligned with long-term business goals. This individual will focus on the Microsoft technology stack including SQL Server 2008+, on premise reporting services such as SSIS, SSRS, C#, and other .NET data access technologies; other platforms and technologies may be used as business needs change.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist development teams in the build of schema design and database technologies
  • Ensure use of best practices for data-driven applications
  • Review and optimize application data access strategies and optimization
  • Enforce database quality standards within the code base
  • Build out and maintain reporting services and integration services applications
  • Support transactional and analytical database efforts in support of the business needs
  • Respond to data inquiries from stake holders and the business teams
  • Mentor developers and product owners on OLTP and OLAP database patterns
  • Support architecture team in long-term planning and implementation
  • Support operations, troubleshooting, after-hours and on-call activities as needed
  • Work with project teams to map system functionality and provide gap analysis
  • Evaluation of alternative business processes and technology solutions
  • Basic understanding of business processes and ability to take notes; summarize understanding; and take initiative
  • Support and participate daily/weekly status reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Strong experience working in Microsoft SQL Server and the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack (SSRS, SSAS and SSIS)
  • Strong experience designing relational and multi-dimensional models
  • Knowledge of administration of SQL Server for transactional and analysis systems
  • Strong cube design expertise
  • Strong SSRS development
  • Recent experience working with SQL Server 2008+ supporting OLTP and OLAP workloads
  • High level of proficiency in database design fundamentals for e-commerce, CRM and Inventory management systems
  • Working experience with Excel and the "Power” / data mining add-ons a plus
  • Experience with PowerBI stack a big plus
  • Knowledge of C# and .NET web technologies a plus
  • Experience with Visual Studio 2012, 2013 and 2015
  • Exposure to Azure cloud technologies a plus
  • Exposure to non-Microsoft DB technologies a plus (MySQL, etc.)
  • A great team attitude and the desire to work with a small group of peers

Education and Experience:
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field
  • 5+ years' experience as a SQL Server developer
  • Certifications a plus
