Job Description
  • Applies advanced knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and practices in area of specialized expertise to develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Provides technical leadership, consultation, or guidance to specialized engineering groups and other technical personnel.
  • Conceptualizes, creates, and analyzes designs to ensure engineering projects meet technical, cost, quality, and performance requirements.
  • Develops and writes technical documentation, makes revisions to existing documentation, and provides input to technical papers or presentations.
  • May deliver technical presentations. Initiates and maintains external contacts with key experts and officials of other companies, national labs, academic institutions, and government agencies.
  • Performs technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to solve complex engineering problems, using specialized equipment, or by creating computer programs, models, or simulations.
  • Performs electrical and/or electronic repairs using approved methods.
  • Prepares, presents, and defends project technical results and recommendations to customers.
  • Participates in formal technical reviews.
  • Prepares technical and cost portions of proposals related to area of expertise.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications.
  • Advises senior management on new developments and programs.
  • May direct the work of less senior technical personnel.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical degree and 2 years work experience
  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering tools is highly desired
  • Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant technical field of specialization.
  • Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies in applicable engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, papers, and presentations and deliver them in written and oral form to customers, industry leaders, and senior management.
  • Ability to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems that require a professional level of engineering knowledge.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers to solve moderately complex technical problems.
  • Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
  • Experience working with electrical/electronic systems of military ground vehicles
  • Working knowledge of military electrical connector and electrical cabling specifications SAEJ1939 CANBus, 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet Protocols
  • Integration of military communication/antenna systems including BFT, SINCGARS, DAGR, CREW2
  • Experience using lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, CAN, DAC/Client converters) for test and verification is a must.
  • The candidate must have the ability to access and move about a large military vehicle during integration and test activities.
  • Excellent ability to rapidly troubleshoot and isolate system level problems discovered during production, ability to determine root cause including design defects and production/supplier defects, and ability to recommend near-term workarounds.
  • May require visits or assignments to shop or production areas, test facilities, or customer sites.
  • May require travel.
