Job Description
  • The Repair Group Leader is responsible for the daily execution of high quality, on-time, work in the Repair department.
  • The Repair Group Leader manages daily/weekly/monthly output based on customer commitments, capacity, and repair requirements while proactively identifying and resolving potential bottlenecks.
  • The Repair Group Leader is responsible for achieving the Repairs scheduling plan executing to Quality Goals and On-time delivery dates while maintaining a safe and continuously improving workplace.
  • This position has ownership for the Evaluation, Test, & Assembly performance (accuracy, on-time delivery, quality, and budget) of all Repair Orders, and supervision of the department staff completing the orders.
  • Maintain consistent workflow and on-time delivery of Repair Orders (evaluations and final repairs)
  • Assure processes & procedures are consistently followed and maintained by everyone in the department and take charge to implement Corrective Actions to improve performance
  • Monitor ERP reports (dispatch, backlog, repair, etc.) to maintain schedule and mitigate all risks to on-time delivery, quality, and repair order budget
  • Assure department equipment, software, and tools are properly maintained, are in safe working order, and are used correctly by department staff
  • Manage all customer contract requirements so that the Repair order completion meets customer expectations and government accounting requirements (e.g. evaluation reports, Commercial Asset Visibility (CAV) Reporting, Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) Reporting, etc.)
  • Assure that ERP data input for each Repair Order is timely and accurate and unique to each Repair Order (e.g. materials requirements, routings, estimated ship date, etc.)
  • Responsible to facilitate, monitor, and assure that all repair jobs are tracked daily through all functional areas (e.g. test, assembly, wire, QC, etc.) with Repair staff working collaboratively with these areas to maintain the schedule, OTD, and job budget
  • Take charge to identify and support Continuous Improvement, Lean, and Corrective Action activities
  • Maintain and report any performance measures or metrics (daily, weekly, & monthly) required of the Repair Department in a timely and accurate manner
  • Work with QA and others to ensure department meets ISO9000 and all other required certifications and government contract requirements
  • Ensure safe work practices are used at all times and maintain daily department 5s procedures
  • Lead the training and coaching of Repair Department employees
  • In conjunction with HR and the Value Stream Production Manager, perform employee evaluations, reviews, and disciplinary actions
  • Monitor attendance and keep staffing levels at capacity
  • Create and maintain a positive and engaged working department that values safety, improvement, participation, quality, and achieving goals, visibly recognizing individuals for achievement and coaching individuals to succeed
  • High School Degree (College Degree preferred)
  • 5 years or more experience leading a Repair Department in an electro-mechanical environment
  • 5 years or more direct supervision experience
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing preferred
  • 5 years or more of direct ERP experience
  • High level of skill with MS Office (excel, word, etc.)
  • Demonstrated successful leadership by example
  • Must be able to exhibit a positive attitude and communicate clearly and effectively
