Job Title:  Sr Design Engineer

Duration: Direct Long-term
Pay range: $36-$43/hr, 75-90K DOE
 
Job Responsibilities:
Create engineering test plans, protocols, and reports
Calculate forces, stresses, and deflections through hand calculations
Perform complete FEA using SolidWorks Simulation (linear and non-linear)
Design of plastic injection molded parts
Creates tolerance stack analysis with understanding of primary, secondary, and trinitary constraints
Interprets ASME Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing
Builds and maintains teamwork
Supports engineering/technical work on multiple products.
Perform DFM (design for manufacturing) process and will work directly with customer engineers to create solutions, meet deadlines and provide customer satisfaction throughout the development and launch cycle.
Supports and conducts brainstorming sessions and creates custom designs, using SolidWorks, that meet various requirements.
Maintains and creates documentation including test plans, test reports, PFMEA, DFMEA, technical proposals, etc. 
Performs hand calculations and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to reduce risk on each design.
Guides and mentors' junior engineers (domestic and foreign)
Participates in off-hour communication with our international locations.
Travel up to 15% of the time may be required and as needed both domestically and internationally.
 
Job Requirements:
BSME, BS Physics, similar technical degree, or equivalent experience
MSME, MS Physics, MBA highly desired
Minimum of 10 years in 3D Modeling (SolidWorks preferred) and 5 years in a mentoring role in a R&D or design environment with significant exposure to design of thin-walled plastic injection molded parts, cable design, medical device design, or electrical/electronic connector systems development
Strong writing skills creating documentation as mandated by ISO 13485, FDA or similar regulations where intimate knowledge of the regulation or standard is required
Demonstrable team-leadership experience in product development, manufacturing processes, and development of electrical and mechanical devices; performance of new technology research; creation of product documentation, product testing protocols, and test reporting.
Extensive background in design for manufacture, quality processes, and documentation of highly regulated (medical or similar) products
Experience transitioning/supporting domestic and off-shore manufacturing
Experience leading teams and conducting/documenting design reviews, troubleshooting, and technical risk analysis activities
Significant experience computing tolerance stacks of various materials and systems
Ability to obtain a passport/visa and travel domestically and internationally as required
Fluent college-level English speaking and writing skills
Experience with design/production of medical devices under ISO 13485
Solid understanding of manufacturing methods related to plastics and metal fabrication and experience working with injection molders and metal stampers
