Responsible for warehouse and/or cooler operations and finished goods distribution. Effectively leads direct reports and works collaboratively with internal departments to ensure the efficient and cost-effective flow of products from Dairy Maid Dairy to the customer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assures operational economies and efficiencies of product flow and process, from receipt into the warehouse through completion of successful delivery to the customer.
  • Develops a warehouse and/or distribution budget. Evaluates and maintains operational costs of the facility within the parameters budgeted while seeking opportunities to improve inventory cost control.
  • Maintains safety and cleanliness of working environment; trains new and re-training of existing Forklift operators, ensures compliance with Forklift Safety guidelines, and maintains an emergency action plan for the facility.
  • Supervises and coaches employees. Communicates company and cascading goals and specific job expectations. Helps people stay focused on priorities and follows up to ensure success.  Holds self accountable for conducting at least three formal performance conversations with employees each year. 
  • Provides excellent service to internal and external customers by meeting directly with customers and the sales force to review improvement opportunities as needed, and assessing planning and operational performance to meet the Service needs of our customers.
  • Controls the practices necessary to coordinate retrieving finished goods from the appropriate production facilities. May be responsible for the traceability of products within the recall/withdrawal program.
  • Establishes methods for scheduling of shipments in coordination with order entry/customer service function, sales, and customers. Communicates procedures to load-out personnel and oversees to assure compliance; communicates with customers to establish load out/departure times and other customer-related details.
  • Develops Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to measure the level of cost and service provided by the facility.
  • May be responsible for ordering and maintaining an adequate inventory level of purchased products that flow through the distribution center.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business/economics, preferably with 4+ years of management in the fields of distribution/logistics or High School Diploma/GED and 8+ years of comparable industry management experience.
  • Experience supervising employees, both entry level and supervisors
  • Strong knowledge of refrigerated products, sound distribution practices and ability to be sensitive to customers and their service expectations.Demonstrate professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy with the agility to learn new software, including warehouse and inventory management systems
