Description
The Human Resources (HR) Manager establishes, develops, maintains, and communicates office and production policies throughout our facility. This also includes helping, advising, and consulting with employees and at the same time keeping the best interests of the company in mind. The HR Manager plays a big role in hiring, keeping key employees, as well as handling compensation and salary administration. The HR Manager handles employee relations, separations, performance reviews, benefits, 401k and pension plans. The HR Manager plays a key role in the modification of our employee handbook, employee training programs, award/reward or incentive programs. The HR Manager provides advice to keep the company under state and federal laws and regulations.
The HR Manager has the full responsibility of a safety coordinator. This entails planning, preparing and training all employees in all OSHA required safety programs. Keeping up with the ever changing OSHA regulations and working towards providing a safe work environment. Modification of safety programs, implementing procedures. Handling Workers Comp cases, investigations and staying on top of any open claims. Providing modified duty. Communicating safety, writing safety presentations, postings and training at their work stations or in a classroom setting. Coordinating safety committee meetings and assigning projects, safety concerns and following up targeted completion dates. The HR Manager also assists with ingredient and packaging inventory control and ordering and provides HR and Safety services to 100+ employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit qualified candidates for non-exempt positions utilizing available resources to maintain an effective workforce Conduct training and develop employees Develop and maintain job descriptions for all positions Write, coordinate, enforce, policies and procedures affecting day to day operations to assure consistent application and equitable employee relations Maintain all personnel, payroll and related files to meet all state, federal, and company regulations Partners with management team members and corporate Human Resources department on issues involving employee relations such as; terminations, suspensions, EEOC claims and rule interpretations Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations for all relevant statutes and prepares information requested or required for compliance. Coordinate and support audits/reviews by corporate Human Resources or government agencies Facilitate a positive working relationship between management the labor force. Assist and advise management on Human Resources issues. Assist supervisors and managers in writing disciplinary action letters, interpreting policies, job performance evaluations, letters of compliment and performing investigations Conduct plant safety audits, work with production and safety train employees on new job and new equipment. Hold safety meetings on a regular basis to bring up any safety concerns and to correct safety hazards. Monitor safety observation program that involves all supervisors and management that promotes safety by positive reinforcement Assist employees with any data changes, such as tax withholdings, address, dependent status Process and manage FMLA and leave requests, in partnership with Corporate HR Manage employees safety programs Keep employees informed of company transactions with memos, letters or oral communication Closely review new or existing labels for correct nutritional, ingredient information and spelling This position tracks and monitors ingredient and packaging components using the inventory control systems

Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree 5 + years of experience in Human Resources and Safety in a manufacturing environment  
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Supervisory and leadership skills Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations Understanding and experience with Worker's Comp Training experience, comfortable speaking in front of groups Ability to speak, write and read in Spanish, preferred Knowledge of both quality and production operations OSHA Industrial Safety Orders Training Workers Comp and Labor Law understanding for federal and state Attention to detail
