  2. MISSION
In support of operational excellence, the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager provides "hands on behavior based health & safety leadership and direction to the company across all of our USA facilities through the development and implementation of appropriate safety policies, procedures and programs.

As a key change agent, increases safety, health and environmental awareness and continuously improves corporate and individual site safety performance while also optimizing productivity, efficiency and effectiveness. Leads regular audits, ensures accident & incident investigation & reporting procedures are in place and followed, and maintains robust record keeping and KPI reporting processes to effectively reduce risks.

Develops and delivers detailed and specialized safety, health and environment training programs for new and existing employees to embed a behavior based safety culture including but not limited to lock out / tag out, hazard communication, emergency response programs, confined space entry, contractor control, fall protection, evacuation procedures, WHMIS, Safe Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Job Safety Analysis.
  1. KEY TASKS
    1. Lead the development of environmental, health and safety policies, practices and procedures throughout a network of company facilities in compliance with governmental regulations including Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations, including but not limited to OSHA.
    2. Lead the development of and provide guidance regarding facility specific issues relative to EHS programs and practices
    3. Monitor new legislation as it relates to EHS standards and practices and facilitate changes, as necessary.
    4. Works collaboratively with Group Risk and Safety and Group Environment to implement programs locally as required and supports Group in creation of standards, best practices and activities to continuously improve the culture company wide.
    5. Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary group and be a team leader.
    6. Identify, investigate, report and provide guidance relative to root causes, corrective actions (RCCA) for incidents, employee EHS programs and regulatory compliance relative to EHS.
    7. Develop materials necessary for a comprehensive employee and supervisor safety training program, including training modules designed to meet or exceed the safety goals of the organization.
    8. Develop and implement solutions for emergency preparedness plans for company sites.
    9. Monitor and analyze EHS trends and implement programs designed to continuously improve company results.
    10. Implement standards of performance, benchmarks and key performance indicators that allow accurate measurement of performance and improvement.
    11. Assist in the development of consistent pre-employment training and practices.
    12. Provide leadership, guidance and technical support to operations management and safety committees to embed a behavior based safety culture.
    13. Act as a contact for various state and local regulatory agencies regarding matters involving safety, health and the environment.
    14. Assist in the development and administration of company safety incentive programs, including the evaluation of the effectiveness of such programs in positively changing employee safety behavior.
    15. Assist in ensuring consistency in the policies and practices being employed at each company facility, where practical.

  3. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 3-7 years experience in safety, health and environment or a related discipline preferred with direct experience driving cultural change.
    2. Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations as well as other regulatory standards including, but not limited to NFPA, DOT and EPA.
    3. Knowledge of Food Processing Manufacturing environment.
    4. Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
    5. Excellent leadership, change management and time management skills.
    6. Excellent working knowledge of Federal regulations and various State laws regarding safety compliance.
    7. Multiple locations experience a plus.
    8. Proficient in personal computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
    9. Knowledge and experience in training in a group environment.
    10. Possess strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills
    11. Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities across multiple projects / sites and meeting deadlines.
    12. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
    13. Works independently and has a strong ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
    14. Detail oriented with excellent organization skills.
