The perfect Public and Media Relations Manager will develop the campaigns to increase awareness of this ongoing project to the local, regional and international target audiences.

You will be building the press office, the first place that all journalists approach, on and off line, to find out about all things that are going on with the project. In addition, you will create exemplary contacts and maintain ongoing relationships with the media while overseeing the media relations program including, print, television, radio, online, and other mediums.

What does a day full of fun and colors looks like?
  • Formulates, plans, develops and implements a multi-level publicity and public relations campaign on a local, regional, national and international level.  Aligns programs and activities to support all marketing and business objectives through effective program development, coordination, and utilization of internal and external resources. 
  • Develops and oversees budgets, programs and timelines.
  • Maintains ongoing relationships with the media and oversees the media relations program including print, television, radio and other mediums.  Works closely with the Head of Marketing and Head of Trade to ensure close alignment on all Sales & Marketing activities and communications.
  •  Prepares news releases and feature articles.  Arranges interviews between company executives and press, radio and television representatives. 
  • Provides advice and assistance to company personnel in writing speeches, preparing letters and drafting articles that are to be made public.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and linkages with the media, community groups, trade, and government entities to position and promote the brand.
  • Creates, develops, implements and coordinates special events and promotional activities--on-site and in the community.
  • As a member of the crisis management team, is the key point of contact with the media, community groups, and guest or family members in the event of an accident, violence or other mishap in the location of the project. 
  • Educates personnel in security, safety, and members of management in communication protocols in the event of a crisis to ensure proper response and notification to affected guests, employees, and family members, control negative publicity, and minimize exposure.
  • Develops the organizational structure, roles and responsibilities for the Public Relations group.  Provides program oversight, coordination and management of employees in the Public Relations group.  Is responsible for hiring, training, development, performance management, team building, and other people management activities.  
  • Measure, report, and analyze key performance indicators across all media platforms to identify trends and anomalies.
  • Manage VIP and celebrity park visits.

What do you need to be part of the magic?
  • A bachelor's degree in journalism, communication arts, advertising, business, marketing, or closely related field (or equivalent education and experience) is required.  A master's degree in communication arts, marketing or closely related field is preferred
  • Five years of progressive experience in the public relations field with a theme park, hospitality, or closely related industry. 
  • Additional years of experience in a public relations/advertising agency or media network are preferred. 
  • Requires a track record of success in developing and implementing multi-level media publicity campaigns, with demonstrated ability to utilize the local, regional, national and international media to accomplish key public relations and promotional objectives.
  • Three years of management experience with personnel leadership and program oversight responsibility is preferred.  
  • Requires strong media contacts (local, regional, national and international) with an in-depth understanding of pitching and utilizing different mediums. 
  • Requires demonstrated experience and strategic skills in public relations, event promotions, and community relations (schools, government, and trade).
  • Experience as a spokesperson and as a point of contact in high profile issues and crises is required. 
  • Strong leadership, people management, team building, and project management skills required. 
  • Computer proficiency with ability to use Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), desktop publishing software, and familiarity with the Internet is required. 
  • Requires the ability to build positive relationships and linkages with the media, community groups, and the business sector to position and promote the brand.

  •  Driver's license and passport.  Requires travel domestically and internationally.
