Job Description:

  • Required Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Would be required to float to other similar units when required

General job duties:
  • The Licensed Practical Nurse under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) contributes and participates in competent, evidence-based care, and performs technical treatments in providing care to an assigned group of patients
  • The LPN participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency

Equipment utilized:
  • (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc)
  • Alaris pumps, Accudose for medication distribution, and Cerner for the EMR

Required skills:
  • Certificate from college or technical school upon completion of practical nurse program
  • Contributes to the gathering and synthesizing of data for patients in order to promote an informed assessment
  • Participates in the development and modification of the Plan of care
  • Participate in the evaluation of patient response to the plan of care
  • Recognizes and assesses ill patients who have deteriorated, providing Basic Life Support (BLS) as needed
  • Skillfully and efficiently provide safe patient care
  • Document the effectiveness of prescribed medical and nursing regimens
  • Communicate patient outcome/response to nursing interventions/patient care to the appropriate patient care registered nurse
  • Collaborate with members of health care team in providing for patient/client participation in health promotion maintenance and restoration
  • Request and receive physicians' orders with the direct delegation of the registered nurse
  • Accept physician's order
  • Record order on physician's order sheet
  • Verify appropriateness of order with the delegating registered nurse
  • Implement order as delegated by the registered nurse
  • Report patient response to the delegating registered nurse
  • Transcribe written physician order(s) verified as appropriate by the registered nurse
  • Maintain safe, effective nursing care
  • Implement physician orders and nursing interventions
  • Complete yearly performance appraisal, yearly safety in services/unit competencies
  • Remain functional, follow directions, and follow protocols during emergency situations
  • Perform advanced technical procedures required for unit-specific competencies
  • Seek education and learning experiences to maintain current knowledge and skills
  • State license status must be currently active
  • Minimum 2 years experience required

Certification:
  • BLS, AHA

Shift:
  • Day

Dress Code:
  • Navy/white scrubs
