The CDO Business Intelligence (BI) group provides the enterprise with
consistent, comprehensive, timely and intuitive information solutions
which facilitate efficient analysis and data-driven decisions. The BI
team is focused on effectively managing data and information,
facilitating information and data access, empowering advanced
analytics, and maturing value-focused relationships. As a member of
the CDO BI Solution Design team, the candidate is instrumental in
ensuring that information is timely and actionable through the design of high quality analytical data
integration solutions. They work with BI Analysts, Data Platform ETL
Developers, Report Developers and Data Scientists to analyze and
design Enterprise Business Intelligence solutions.

A CDO BI Designer works under limited supervision to analyze and
design analytical data integration solutions that include both
structured and unstructured data, to develop and manage metadata from
analytical data stores and data access tools, and to monitor and
manage data quality. The ideal candidate will have the ability to
promote the value and potential of BI across the Enterprise,
understand how information is used to drive strategic and tactical
decisions for the Business, and understand and anticipate the information needs of the Business.


. Assist in interviewing business users to obtain information

. Perform analysis on data sources to verify expected data content,
relationships and quality

. Design and communicate conceptual and logical data models

. Develop and communicate high-level technical designs in order to
resolve complex technical and business issues

. Evolve Business Intelligence solutions and data models to meet new
and changing business requirements

. Develop processes for capturing and maintaining metadata from all
data warehousing components (from databases and big data repositories
to data access tool catalogues)

. Work with CDO solution architect and Data Platform
architect/developers to define best practices (including detail
source-to-target mapping design and transformation ETL logics, etc.)
for Derived Data Sets and Business Ready Data design.

. Proactively monitor data quality; provide direction and guidance
in improving the data load process

. Support and advise business users on data conflicts or
inappropriate data usage

. Adhere to and set data management, security, development policies,
procedures and standards

. Be proactive, motivated and flexible

. Possess analytical skills and have the ability to support and
manage multiple priorities

. Cultivate long-term strategic goals for CDO BI Information
Management environment in conjunction with Business stakeholders and
CDO team

. May support the activities of others for BI activities or


. BA/BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or
equivalent Business degree / work experience

. 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence area
(specifically with structured and unstructured data analysis;
solution design; metadata management)

. Strong analytical, conceptual and technical skills; facile ability
to translate business needs into technical solutions

. Capable of developing a deep understanding of source data: its
strengths, weaknesses and semantics.

. Mastery of various data modeling tools and data modeling paradigms
for both structured and unstructured data

. Mastery of various data querying languages (such as SQL and

. 8+ years of experience with Oracle/Teradata/Vertica databases and

. Experience with ETL tools (such as Informatica)

. Experience with Hadoop environment (including Hive, Impala, Sqoop,
Spark, etc.)

. Experience with scripting tools (including unix shell, Python,
Ruby, PHP, etc.)

. Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools (including
OLAP/Metadata Management/Reporting/ visualization tools) such as
Microstrategy, Qlikview, Cognos, Tableau, etc.

. Extensive client facing skills with the ability to lead
customer/business user meetings (as appropriate)

. Excellent communication skills both written and oral

. Strong partnering and teamwork skills;

. Flexibility, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills

. Strong interpersonal and communications skills; ability to
effectively with people at all levels of the enterprise from
executives to developers (across the organizational spectrum from
Business to Engineering)
