Our client is a small/mid-sized full service AE firm specializing in commercial, public sector and transportation projects.  Responsible for taking projects from programming, conceptual design, contract documents to final construction completion. Current project is the MTA's Eastside Access; extending between Sunnyside Queens and Grand Central.  The project will route the LIRR through new track connections through the lower level of an existing East River tunnel. The new LIRR terminal at Grand Central, located 14 stories below ground, will feature a total of four platforms and eight tracks, plus a new 350,000-square-foot retail and dining concourse, opening in December 2022.  

Job Description: 
Additional candidate needed to complete the Mechanical Engineering (Plumbing and Fire Protection) portion of the project, assisting in the Construction Phase Support of the systems installation of the East Side Access Project.  Candidate will be part of a dynamic and innovative design team working in a fast-paced environment to assist the contractor and construction manager.  

  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate corrective action
  • Process contractor submittals
  • Review design drawings and specifications
  • Assist in submissions and deliverable transactions; tracking, logging, scanning, uploads, etc
  • Five or more (5+) years experience in Mechanical Engineering as it relates to Design and Construction Phase services
  • Candidates must be knowledgeable of facility HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection design and installation
  • Candidate must be able to review "Request for Information" and Shop Drawings
  • Candidate should be able to perform calculations for hydronic pumping systems which include pumping and expansion tanks
  • Candidate shall be able to perform calculations for air systems
  • MUST possess skills using MicroStation or AutoCAD or both
BSME or AAS in Mechanical Engineering with equivalent experience

Hourly rate commensurate with experience
