Efforts include some of the largest transportation projects in the New York Metropolitan area such as the Raising of the Bayonne Bridge, Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing, NJ Turnpike Widening, and Fulton Street Transit Center.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Engineer of Construction for PATH and PORTS, the position will be at the Howland Hook Marine Terminal, Staten Island field engineering office. Work will include construction management and inspection.  Including structural concrete, asphalt paving, and underground utilities.  Marine experience a plus, including pile repairs, bulkhead and pier construction.  Some mechanical, civil, structural and plumbing knowledge could be beneficial.   

Immediate need for an Engineer who has the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written to the Resident Engineer, other Port Authority Engineers and staff, contractors/consultants, etc. Ability to read plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives, inspection reports, time and material records, and document unit price work. Identify potential extra work issues and keep Resident Engineer advised. Prepare estimates of extra work. Prepare related sketches and documentation. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness to the RE.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a NICET Level III will be considered.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in construction inspection
  • Some OSHA training required, inspector qualifications in concrete and masonry preferred. 
  • Confined Space certification
  • Familiarity with NYC Building codes
  • Ability to pass a SWAC background check
  • Valid Driver's license required with own car
  • Night and weekend shifts will be required
