The diverse staff includes a team of respected engineers, inspectors, and technicians spread out throughout New Jersey and New York. Efforts include some of the largest transportation projects in the New York Metropolitan area such as the Raising of the Bayonne Bridge, Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing, NJ Turnpike Widening, and Fulton Street Transit Center.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Engineer of Construction for NY Airports, the position will be at JFK; the Resident Engineer's Office. The work will primarily involve airport and building inspection of concrete work, paving, structural steel and traffic maintenance.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written to the Resident Engineer, other Port Authority Engineers and staff, contractors/consultants, etc. Ability to read plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives, inspection reports, time and material records, and document unit price work. Identify potential extra work issues and keep Resident Engineer advised of issues. Prepare estimates of extra work. Prepare related sketches and documentation. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness to the Resident Engineer.

Required:
  • Civil Engineering Degree and/or NICET certifications
  • 10 + years of experience inspecting construction work, varied in size
  • Airport building experience preferred
  • Valid Driver's license required
  • Night and weekend shifts may be required
  • Trained in fall protection, confined space permits, etc.
  • 10 hr OSHA construction safety training
  • Bolting, Masonry, Concrete and Work Zone Safety Certifications
Education:
BS in Civil Engineering degree. In lieu of a Civil Engineering degree, a NICET level 3 or 4 is required.

Compensation/Benefits:
$95,000 to 110,000 yearly salary
