Job Overview:
The Plant Engineer is responsible for total engineering leadership and support to the company's production schedule with little or no supervision.  Designs and supervises fabrication and installation of new process equipment for addition to existing machines as required by manufacturing for expanded capability, improved product quality or increased productivity.  
Job Description:
  • Provides technical support to manufacturing operations
  • Evaluates specifications of new production machinery to assist manufacturing in selection of new equipment
  • Determines requirement of plant utilities and contractor services for installation of new purchased machinery
  • Provides technical assistance to maintenance operations
  • Strong hands-on skills in problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of shop practices involved with process equipment fabrication
  • Work experience with web transport process systems in at least one of the major converting industries, printing, coating or laminating
  • Knowledge of control technology including DC, variable AC, and servo drive systems as supplied to web motion and tension control and the application of programmable controllers for interfacing drive systems with the process control
  • Hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting; control systems and programming; repair and maintenance of plant systems
  • Experience in an automated manufacturing environment with a focus on driving operating (process and equipment) improvements
  • Drive operating improvements through changes and upgrades in equipment design, equipment layout and processing capabilities
  • Develop capital plans and lead efforts from concept through completion to estimate, specify, design and control capital improvement and major modification/overhaul projects
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment problems and develop and implement solutions for existing operations
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and basic machine design
  • Self-motivated and responsible with mature judgment and initiative
  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical or Electro-Mechanical technology)
