Service Technician

EG Workforce Solutions is looking for a Service Technician at a local Battle Creek Company in the Fort Custer Area. The schedule is 7:00am - 3:30pm and the pay is $18.00/hr.

Position Summary:
The Service Technician is responsible for providing field service support and consultation to ROSLER customers. This role will install and start-up new equipment, and rebuild and commission existing equipment in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. The position will advise and provide the best technical solutions to solve customer issues.

Essential Functions:
  • Follows all Company & Customer safety policies and procedures and works in a responsible manner so as not to create a health and safety hazard to oneself or others.
  • Wears the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as designated by Company & Customer.

  • Interfaces regularly with customers for the service of equipment; demonstrates technical and functional expertise and responds to customers' requests and concerns in a positive and timely manner.

Business Operations
  • Performs the installation and start-up of equipment; inspects assembled equipment to ensure for proper installation.
  • Inspects all operating parts to ensure proper operation within expected tolerances.
  • Repairs and rebuilds equipment either on-site or in-house, as necessary; troubleshoots for mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Performs routine maintenance on the equipment and assists in establishing preventative maintenance schedules with the customer.
  • Determines tools and equipment required to perform the scope of the job.
  • Communicates and interacts with internal and external project representatives during field projects; collaborates with colleagues to exchange information, such as technical findings.
  • Responds to customer calls (on-site, on-line, or telephonic) in a timely, professional, and positive manner.
  • Provides timely, detailed, and accurate reports on service performed, product performance, and warranty liabilities to Company expense, and time allocation.
  • Completes the service report following each customer call to include accurate documentation of time, materials, and driving log.
  • Demonstrates safety consciousness in equipment handling and electrical procedures, and the unique situations encountered at diverse work sites; follows all Customer safety guidelines and requirements.
  • Completes equipment check-off list, inspects new equipment, and prepares for outbound shipment.
  • Assists with equipment set-up or modifications for shop run-off.
  • Assists manufacturing with equipment assembly and wiring, as assigned.
  • Provides customers with information on product improvements; proactively connects customer with parts requests to aftermarket sales.
  • Delivers value by promoting additional products and services to assist the customer and build a value-based positive partnership.
  • Makes revisions to drawings to illustrate on-site changes.
  • Submits product improvement and cost savings suggestions to Management.
  • Records labor hours and material(s) for each job, per department procedure and requirements.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Maintains a neat, orderly, and organized work area at all times.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • May be temporarily rotated to other positions within and outside of home department in order to meet production needs.
Job Specifications:
Education & Experience
  • Associate's Degree in Science, Engineering, Technology, or other related skills trade discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 2-years of experience in a mechanical/technical role.
  • Experience with evaluating and servicing electrical distribution or control systems is preferred.
  • Experience with relay logic wiring is preferred.
  • Basic welding skills is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of assigned work.
  • Ability to deliver technical solutions to customers with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills of mechanical systems.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to think through designs completely.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and schematics, and do redlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and customer relations skills.
  • Familiarity with machine shop equipment; ability to use most hand tools.
  • Must be a self-starter, team player, work well with others, and have a positive attitude.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines; ability to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have a Chauffeurs license, medical card, and the ability to obtain a Passport.
  • Must have the flexibility to travel up 80% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
  • Occasionally required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate equipment, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to talk and hear; frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, and crawl.
  • Occasionally required to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally subject to loud noise and, at times, noise level may require the employee to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
