The CMM Technician will develop programs to verify parts, fixtures and tools to ensure quality measurements meet acceptable levels.

  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process and test products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical, electrical or chemical characteristics.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics.
  • Perform layouts, capability studies and gauge R&R studies.
  • Design & maintain calibration of fixtures & gauges.
  • Uses inspection equipment as needed.
  • Develop and test software programs to compare to specifications and documentation.
  • Identify, analyze and document defects, questionable functions, errors and inconsistencies of parts to prints.
  • Plan programs and design fixtures.
  • Develop, maintain and use measurement software programs.
  • Responds to inquiries from users and technical support regarding functions and operations of software programs.
  • Conduct gauge studies.
  • Check parts for layouts and capability studies.
  • Verify steels used in the tool room by providing all dimensional results.
  • Documents, tracks and communicates test plans, test results, analysis and unresolved problems.
  • Train, support and help supervise other CMM users.
  • Reviews and contributes to software program documentation.

  • AA degree and 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training.
  • Computer software literate and knowledge of gauging and measurement devises.
  • Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Able to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Certified blue print course training.
  • CMM operations certificate.
