Quality Technician

EG Workforce Solutions is hiring for a 2nd Shift Quality Technician at one of our top clients in Battle Creek. Hours are 5:00pm - 1:30am, Monday - Friday. Pay is $12.00/hr.

Summary/Objective:
The Quality Control Technician is to perform quality checks, inspection and tests parts for quality throughout the process in a manufacturing setting. This role will properly document and make recommendations when necessary for improvements to the process for the highest quality parts.

Essential Functions:
Level In Training
  • Learning the following:
    • How to complete applicable paperwork for area of work.
    • Understand and follow applicable procedures for the area of work.
    • Basics of how to utilize lab measurement equipment surfcom tester, optical comparator, calipers, micrometers, height gage, bore gage, etc
    • Basic 5S requirements ie. Cleaning and organization skills of the area.
    • Process of inspection checks.
    • Conduct process audits at the machine
    • Ability to read blue prints
    • Understand how to handle Receive Inspection for all raw materials, delivery and pass through parts
    • Understand how to perform tool change and set up inspections.
    • Ability to input data into computer software such as Word, Excel, Power Point, for Capability Study information, etc.
    • Perform basic CMM checks
    • Understand basic APQP process documentation
    • Effectively communicate across all departments
    • Possess attention to detail
    • Other duties as assigned
Level I
  • Ability to perform all previous level requirements in addition to the following items:
    • Complete all necessary paperwork for area of work
    • Complete working knowledge of how to utilize lab measurement equipment surfcom tester, optical comparator, calipers, micrometers, height gage, bore gage, etc
    • Complete process inspection checks
    • Working knowledge of 5S requirements and assist in Kaizen activities
    • Perform Receiving Inspection for all raw materials, delivery and pass through parts
    • Perform tool change and set up inspections
    • Complete APQP process documentation
    • Able to perform CMM checks and trouble shoot with subleaders as necessary
    • Ability to perform 1st piece inspection requirements for all parts manufactured at MPI.
    • Understand the process for basic gage calibration
    • Ability to decipher and develop work instructions as needed
    • Effectively communicate across all departments
    • Other duties as assigned
Level 2
  • Ability to perform all previous level requirements in addition to the following:
    • Perform gage calibration (pins, calipers, etc.)
    • Gain working knowledge of GD&T principles.
    • Gain working knowledge of IATF:2015 Manufacturing process
    • Perform GR&R studies
    • Gain working knowledge of PPAP process and the necessary documentation required
    • Perform daily LPA audits on various areas of the plant
    • Ability to train all "In Training” level associates in the position
    • Effectively communicate across all departments
    • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee will lift up to 25 – 50 lbs

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Regular Full-time. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

  • Basic math skill
  • Willingness to maintain flexibility in work assignment
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed
  • Team work oriented – commitment level
  • Ability to maintain all required work instructions / documents
  • Ability to adhere to all company rules
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Desired Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of six months of quality experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong desire to maintain plant 5S
