Our client in Battle Creek is looking to direct hire a Manufacturing Engineer! Come and put your skills to work in a role where you will be coordinating and performing activities for repair, maintenance and installation of equipment, tools and machines in the production area.

Responsibilities and skills include:
  • Provide technical leadership through entire project life cycle, including pre-sales requirements, analysis and documentation, solution development, project planning and launch, implementation, and post-launch support.
  • Works with external vendors and internal departments to develop and / or draft tooling and machinery.
  • Develop processes to support additional product development and production enhancements.
  • Coordinate with third party vendors, internal departments to manage technology project plans, metrics reporting and issues.
  • Initiate, implement and manage the plant maintenance program, including scheduling of preventive / predictive maintenance
  • Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts and maintenance
  • Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems
  • Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly to minimize unplanned downtime
  • Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Lead and participate in projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operation costs
  • Track, analyze and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance costs, PM compliance, schedule compliance
  • Continually strive to increase capabilities in tooling design and management of equipment and maintenance related items.
  • Strong ability to assess current processes/operations, identify areas of improvement and work with the leadership team to develop a change management plan and drive/implement change based on industry best practices
Requirments include:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, mechanical, or electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 7 plus year's previous experience.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • Experience in the Automotive Industry a plus
  • Lean Manufacturing / Six-Sigma training
  • Knowledge of and experience with continuous improvement
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Experience implementing a maintenance system as well as experience utilizing an asset management system
  • Strong knowledge of programmable logic control (PLC)
  • Proficient use of 3D modeling software for tooling and equipment design
  • Participate in the plan development and review of plant performance.
