Position Description:
The state of Michigan’s largest Adult Foster Care provider is seeking an Executive Director of Crisis Services. This role is a senior position requiring extensive experience in professional management, crisis programming and treatments. Experience with Medication-assisted treatments and supporting services a must. The Executive Director will report to our Vice President of Clinical Services with a dotted line to our Regional VP of Operations for each respective site. This position is responsible for programming, staffing, training, maintenance, marketing, and budgeting and for meeting mutually agreed upon financial metrics. Candidates must have relevant leadership, programming and management experience in Substance-use Recovery, Medication-assisted Treatment and/or Mental Health treatment and programming. Physician Assistant preferred or Masters in Psychology, Social Work or related Behavioral Sciences.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests, residents and staff at all times.
  • Collaborating with community mental health agencies, hospitals and payers referring cases for these services.
  • Assisting in developing evidenced-based clinical strategies and business models for Crisis Residential Centers.
  • Overseeing all operations, programming and fiscal responsibility for Crisis Residential Facilities operated by the company.
  • Assisting in developing and implementing comprehensive policies and procedures required for managing high risk, high acuity patients/guests including criteria for transitioning consumers to appropriate step-down programs based on acuity and function.
  • Ensuring strict clinical and regulatory compliance including timely and appropriate actions for managing and reporting on adverse events.
  • Developing systems for measuring programmatic excellence, quantitative and qualitative program evaluation, and ensuring high quality.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance with local, state and Federal laws.
  • Achieving all critical timelines, budgets and strategic goals per mutually agreed upon plans.
  • Hiring, training, managing and retaining an effective management team and staff capable of delivering high quality and cost-effective services.
  • Tracking and reporting progress and performance in a timely manner and demonstrate consistent and effective methods for continual process improvement.
  • Communicating effectively in a well-organized and accurate manner to the CEO, regulators, and other constituents as requested.
  • Preparing annual strategic plans, operating and capital budgets as requested.
  • Providing reports that accurately represent the state of the business along with recommendations and actions for improvement.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Ideally an advanced degree of RN, PA, MBA, MSW, LPC, LLP, or BSN with at least 3 years of senior management experience; minimum BA, BS with certifications required.
  • Experience and credentials in mental health and/or substance abuse and recovery mandatory.
  • JCAHO or CARF accreditation, support and oversight a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

General Requirements Include:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Good finger dexterity, vision and hearing to use office equipment, ability to lift 50 pounds, twist, turn, bend, kneel, sit, stand and run to meet position responsibilities. 
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and acceptable driving record for transporting residents or work related travel.
  • Maintain industry/regulatory required trainings, and pass criminal history, drug and TB screening requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee Residential Managers, Clinical Manager, Clinical Services and all residential service staff including caregivers, janitorial, food service and all behavioral and clinical staff.
  • Report to VP of Operations for each respective Region we have a facility with a dotted line to VP of Clinical Services.
  • Successfully manage the relationships of all stakeholders including customer, our investors, local hospitals and providers, court system, public safety and mental health agencies and contractors, vendors, residents and their families.
  • Attend and participate in relative community focus groups, meetings, committees, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing rules and accreditation guidelines.
  • Perform risk management to take actions to minimize any risks to person, property or performance.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and sufficient program documentation as required.
  • Seek various grant opportunities and coordinate application when appropriate.
  • Perform all other duties requested by customer and required to operate a successful program.
