Executive Vice President: Payer Contracting

 Position Summary:  Executive Vice President: Payer Contracting
Priority is to assist Customer acquire new customers and sell additional products or services to existing ones. Aligned with the goals and mission of the organization, performing with the core values of the organization – Equality, Respect and Excellence, and in compliance with The Joint Commission, Prepaid Individual Health Plan (PHIP), Community Mental Health (CMH), Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and other governing bodies, the position is responsible for developing and maintain productive payer relationships for the company.  Present Customer capabilities and increase contracts with statewide payers including Medicaid, PIHPs, CMHs, Veterans Affair, Corrections, Auto and Workers Comp payers for patients/consumers needing residential and community support services. Identify opportunities to capture new business, new services lines and market share.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Identify all prospective payers throughout the state that are viable partners for Customer.
  • Develop strategies and plans that result in face to face meeting to present Customer's capabilities and to identify opportunities for Customer to pursue leveraging our core competencies.
  • In collaboration with our Chief Growth Officer and CFO, develop financial models and strategies to assess new opportunities and how the current assets and operations of Customer can be leveraged for scale and efficiencies.
  • Provide weekly status reports and month-end production reports detailing contacts and progress made for each. Describe how these contact have an influence on target markets identified as priorities for Customer.
  • Dress in professional business attire and work 9 am to 5 pm, occasionally putting in overtime hours to meet deadlines or growth targets.
  • Networking is critical in this position will require travel within Michigan to conferences, business meetings, and industry events.
  • The position reports to the CEO and allows the right candidate to guide their own initiatives as long as they deliver new clients and high contract volumes.
  • Responsible for keeping appropriate department heads informed of all opportunities or concerns learned from the market.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Education & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree a must and graduate degree in finance, accounting, public health or healthcare administration preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of previous management or leadership experience in related industry and/or position including health plan, CMH, PHIP or other payer senior administration or network development.
  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience including knowledge and effective practice of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to communicate and work with many disciplines, such as management, physicians, psychiatrist, psychologists, clinical social workers, information systems specialists, financial managers, state agency officials, residents or other individuals transmitting individually identifiable health information.
  • Ability to complete required training in connection with The Joint Commission, CHMs and other government licensing requirements.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language.
Physical Job Requirements:
  • Typical office environment.
  • Ability to lift and / or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Significant travel required to visit client facilities.
  • Ability to speak, read and write the English language. 
  • Office in East Michigan. Location to be determined in or near Oakland, Macomb, Genesee or Wayne Counties.
  • A minimum of 3 professional references will be required from individuals supervising eligible candidates.
  • Background checks will be performed by third parties retained by Customer.
