The Detailer/Drafter is responsible for preparing clear, complete, and accurate working plans and detailed drawings from rough or detailed sketches, or notes for Engineering or manufacturing purposes according to specified dimensions by Computer Aided Design (CAD) system.
Maintains a quality mind-set at all times to ensure a best-in-class product and unsurpassed customer satisfaction.
Notifies his/her Manager of all non-conformances to ensure corrective action and preventive measures are taken.

Responsibilities include:
  • Utilizes CAD software to provide support to Engineers by preparing routine layouts, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams; details to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacturing.
  • Applies drafting and CAD standards to complex component and assembly drawings checking own drawings and drawings of others for clarity, completeness, and conformity to drafting, CAD, and tooling standards.
  • Collaborates directly with Design Engineers to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images; works closely with all departments within the plant to ensure the drawings convey accurate information; works from customer drawings, company drawings, technical data, and specifications.
  • Designs parts based upon written and verbal descriptions from the Design Engineers.
  • Makes all adjustments or changes to drawings, as directed by the Project Engineer.
  • Records all drawing changes and resubmits to the Project Engineer.
  • Creates a complex Bill of Material (BOM) and applies a BOM to verify components of a complex design.
  • Accesses, interprets, and applies a complex design change notice to verify design configuration.
  • Provides regular verbal and written reports summarizing project activity, conditions, procedures, results, conclusions, and recommendations to project leaders.
  • Follows all department guidelines and expectations as it relates to communications with customers and occasionally vendors, covering project cost, invoicing, status, or changes in the Scope of Supply of work.

Requirements include:
  • Associate's Degree in drafting or a technical discipline from a 2-year college or technical school is preferred; or, minimum of 3-years related experience and/or training in a technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCad and Autodesk Inventor is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of assigned work.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, machinery background and capital equipment experience is preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Proficient with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software programs; experience working with other MS Office applications.
  • Strong problem solving abilities and the demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team oriented development environment.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
