Research Scientist/Sr Scientist - Antibody Purification (Biotherapeutics)

Job Description:
  • Primary responsibility is to perform original research in order to develop marketable products.
  • Special emphasis will be placed on automated protein and antibody purification, which will involve working with Cytiva (formerly Client) AKTA (Avant/Pure) and Unicorn software.
  • Will also be tasked with supporting a variety of projects within our R&D division
  • Will manage your workload with minimal supervision.
  • Performs antibody and recombinant protein purification and analytical characterization with limited supervision.
    • Protein Purification: preparation and packing of chromatography columns, conducting low endotoxin chromatography, including operating analytical and preparative fast performance and high-pressure chromatography systems.
  • Experience with affinity, IEX, hydrophobic and size-exclusion chromatography is desired.
    • Analytical characterization: SDS-PAGE, CE-SDS, Endotoxin measurement, protein quantitation assays, analytical SEC analysis. Independently operates analytical instruments such as spectrophotometers, analytical HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, plate readers.
    • Formulation: formulation buffer preparation (molar concentration quantitation and pH adjustment) and formulation optimization for protein/antibody stability.
  • Develops new protocols and troubleshoots existing protocols through process optimization, DoE (Design of Experiment) knowledge is a plus.
  • Bioproduction knowledge and suspension grown CHO-based protein production experience desirable
  • Storing, inventorying, and ordering department supplies and chemicals and preparing chemical solutions according to department procedures, specifications, or supervisory instructions.
  • Participates on cross-functional teams by performing assigned experiments and offering technical advice at team meetings; shares technical expertise with other colleagues; trains or provides guidance to other personnel, if needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's (B.S.) or Master's (M.S.) degree in biochemistry, organic chemistry, bioengineering, or equivalent; with 3+ of related experience and/or training. NOT INTERESTED IN PhD's.
  • REQUIRES **antibody and protein purification** background (Minimum of 1 years).
  • Must be very detail-oriented and organized, with excellent time-management and multitasking skills.
  • Have analytic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, as well as the ability to interact tactfully and effectively with employees at all levels of the organizational structure.
  • Must be highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, well organized and work effectively as part of a team.
