Financial Planner/Research Analyst

Seeking an Asset Management Research Analyst to become part of our team in Richmond, Virginia. The ideal candidate will currently hold their Series 65 professional designation (or obtain the license shortly after hire), want to learn our company from the ground up and want to be involved with making a direct impact on clients' lives while also bringing their experiences and knowledge to the company. Candidates that fit into our firm and culture will desire to be in a wealth management RIA environment and have a passion for tactical market analytics and portfolio analysis.

In this position you will produce research material on specialized areas (equities, fixed-income etc.) in order to provide our clients (RIAs, Financial Advisors, Fund Managers, etc.) with high level, strategic investment related advice to support investment decisions. You will prepare reports covering market trends as well as indicators based upon the Point & Figure and Relative Strength methodologies for both internal and external purposes. You will work directly with clients to set both day-to-day strategies and long-term strategies.Responsibilities
  • Through technical analysis and research you will work as a part of the analyst team on a variety of projects and initiatives to support the Tools & Services and Indexing businesses.
  • Supports and provides insight to other staff members on the recommendation evaluations and on-going monitoring of investment managers.
  • Develop and maintain data and infrastructure to leverage our work into better knowledge management and customer service.
  • Acquire market knowledge, gain exposure and familiarity with issues affecting Financial Advisors and other clients of the business.
  • Participate in producing custom made reports and presentations utilizing the technical methodology.
  • Participates/ initiates efforts to build industry knowledge, company contracts and market intelligence aligned with the Companies initiatives.
  • Responsible for writing research reports and analyst notes.
  • Provide real-time support to clients via the phone, e-mail, and chat services.
Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited four year university preferably in financial planning, business, finance, economics, etc.
  • Series 65 license preferred
  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A proven track record of working with Clients and external partners
  • Ability to identify, meet and follow through with client needs and requirements
  • Strong persuasive and interpersonal skills
  • A strong understanding of investment and financial planning strategies
  • Must be a self-starter, problem solver and a goal-oriented team player with a 'no job is beneath me' attitude
  • Organized, with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to perform multiple tasks efficiently
  • Show confidence, yet in a humble manner, when dealing with clients and firm Financial Advisors
  • Financial industry experience preferred
