MySQL Database Administrator

Valintry is seeking a MySQL Database Administrator
  • The DB Admin will support database (DB) installation and configuration, DB security, replication, maintenance, recommendation of newer technologies and automated approaches for DB administration tasks, training guidance, collaboration for meetings, briefings, plans, and DB design; maintenance of specifications and procedures; and documentation.
  • The DBA will perform all tasks across MySQL as well as SQL databases.

The DB Admin has the following tasks:
  • Provide real-time support to internal and external customers to include responding to trouble calls, alerts, and problems that require DB administration support;
  • Install new or upgrade existing DBs;
  • Monitor and correct errors/failures;
  • Optimize and tune DBs, ensuring coding takes advantage of tuning changes;
  • Ensure DB user/role management, security, and the development of new applications comply with all standards; • Transfer and replicate data;
  • Monitor and report daily performance and log analysis;
  • Build and maintain MySQL/SQL Server DBs in development, test, and production environments to include virtualization and disaster recovery sites;
  • Maintain backup and recovery, DB patches, DB monitoring, replication, log shipping, log analysis, documentation, and support to the Help Desk and customers;
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance new and existing web-based systems;
  • Conduct queries and create scripts addressing reporting requirements and ad-hoc requests;
  • Conduct technical requirements identification/collection;
  • Present solutions to issues/discrepancies related to technical requirements;
  • Document technical activities involving requirements, design, and implementation specifications; user documentation; and other specifications;
  • Perform remediation actions correcting vulnerabilities, coordinating with information assurance team as applicable to ensure validation/verification of completion;
  • Respond to production questions, issues and defects;
  • Resolve data administration issues related to various project and operational needs;
  • Install and configure complex systems;
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures;
  • Address Tier III in support of various constituencies and investigate and troubleshoot related issues;
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures, kncluding coordinating and communicating with impacted customers and keeping management informed;
  • Upgrade and configure DBs that support business systems and customer systems for operational needs;
  • Maintain operational and configuration procedures;
  • Conduct periodic performance reporting in support of capacity planning.
