Our client, Government Fertilizer Company Looking forward to recruit for the position of 'Mechanical Supervisor' in Abu Dhabi

Minimum Requirements:
  • Completion of Secondary (12 Years) education, followed by 3 Years fulltime training in the mechanical trades leading to possession of a recognized Diploma.
  • At least 6 years experience in the mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy machinery and equipment, such as that used in Fertilizer and Petrochemical industries. Experience must also include work on large centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, high pressure pumps, fans and heat exchangers.
  • Good knowledge of English


Job Description:
Basic Function:
Provides work direction to assigned Contractors' Mechanical Technicians involved in the preventive maintenance, repair and major overhaul of a variety of process machinery and equipment in the assigned Plant area. Personally carries out more complex maintenance tasks. Raises report of all activities referring particularly to resources, specific tools, details of materials and spares required to carryout the works. Completes assignments to the best standards of safety quality and duration for all works.

Equipment and associated facilities vary according to the specific process Plant but include any or all of the following: reciprocating and centrifugal compressors; steam turbines, steam generation units, boilers and furnaces, rotary and static reformers, heat exchangers and pumps, motors, conveyors, tanks and associated pipe work systems.
Work Performed
  • Provides work direction to contracted technicians involved in the skilled maintenance, overhaul and repair of equipment such as turbines, generators, compressors, rotary and reciprocating pumps, fans, boilers, furnaces, gearboxes, motors and conveyor systems. Ensures that the Company's codes, standards and practices are adhered to at all times and that the work items listed on standard maintenance check lists are carried out correctly
  • Carries out more specialized or complex maintenance, repairs ad overhauls. Uses a variety of tools and measuring devices.
  • Receives detailed work programmes for preventive maintenance. Allocates work assignments, ensures availability of materials and follows-up to ensure satisfactory completion. Participates as necessary in the diagnosis of faults of a complex nature.
  • Receives work orders for repairs from Planning Section through senior area Engineers and selects and ensures the correct application of spare parts and engineering materials necessary to carryout the work. Before starting work, obtains from Operations Supervisor cold work permits and other specific permits such hot, electrical insulation, confined space entry, excavation as required.
  • Makes sure works can be carried out in safe conditions. Liaises with Safety Department for safety procedures as necessary
  • Inspects and tests completed work to ensure that they have been carried out according to requirements and that equipments performs satisfactorily prior to handling back to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Carries out a variety of routine, major and auxiliary checks and analyses. Includes making checks of seal oil leakage, filter differentials, suction and discharge pressures on auxiliary equipment.
  • Liaises with Operations, Inspection and other technical personnel regarding repairs and overhauls
  • Performs other similar or related duties, such as making regular checks on housekeeping in Plant areas, preparing datasheets showing work completed for maintenance records, reading engineering drawings and manuals and providing on-the-job training
