 Duration: 3-6 months with a good chance of extension.
Interviews:  1st will be over the phone.  2nd will possibly be in person.
Position Overview:
  • The primary role of the Data architect is to lead the strategy, design and implementation for the data architecture components of the Business Intelligence solution.
  • Responsible for translating the business needs into efficient and effective data models including conceptual, logical and physical data modeling.
  • The Data Architect will work with the BI Architect to define and enforce data standards across the organization.
  • Designs and builds relational and dimensional database data models across all layers of the enterprise data warehouse environment
  • Defines and monitors adherence to data modeling, data naming, and other data related standards
  • Understand and evaluate source system data as part of the Data Model designs
  • Conduct Model reviews with project team members
  • Publish and communicate models to various IT and business-based teams, explaining how the model meets business requirements
  • Drive creation of Enterprise view (integration) of data
  • Drive model management and version control of all data models
  • Collaborate with BI Architect and BI team to create data structures that facilitate data integration and meet/exceed reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Collaborate with DBA team to optimize data structures for data integration and reporting/analytics
Manage and control data artifacts:
  • EDW data model, project logical data models, physical data models, data modeling approach documentation, data model issues and action logs, model change control approval documentation, etc.
  • Develops strategies for data acquisitions
  • Experience with a range of high volume data environments
  • Expert Data Modeling skills
  • Experience with large scale data warehouse implementations, integrating multiple legacy and strategic source systems. (7+ years)
  • Proven ability to design dimensional data model structures that achieve optimal performance.
  • Fluent in both Third Normal Form and Dimensional modeling techniques and solutions.
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills to work with both business and technical teams to translate requirements, review data model designs and develop solutions
  • Ability to organize and maintain data models and business specifications using modeling and other automated tools (ERWin or equivalent tool). (7+ years)
  • Skilled in the principles of relational databases and data modeling (logical & physical), and metadata standards. (7+ years)
  • Proficient with Oracle PL/SQL, SQL and other database access tools. (5+ years)
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
