Principle Mechanical Engineer, R&D

Job Description Summary

Client is looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer to be part of a new product development team for its Pyxis brand of products. This individual will work with a team of experts (systems, mechanical, electrical, firmware, software and quality engineers) to develop hardware solutions to meet the needs of our customers.


•Translate product requirements into hardware specifications
•Work independently to create component level or system level designs
•Solve advanced technical problems
•Develop test strategies to demonstrate designs meet requirements and specifications
•Analyze and interpret test results using standard statistical tools and techniques
•Effectively present and communicate analysis to project teams and management in order to drive decisions and conclusions
•Present task/project status to project teams and managementCompetencies

•Modeling of sheet metal and plastic injection molded parts and large assemblies using SolidWorks
•Part design for plastic injection molding
•Sheet metal fabrication processes
•Electromechanical component selection/design
•Generation of full complement of mechanical design documentation compliant to industry and internal standards
•Demonstrated experience using statistical tolerance analysis on large assemblies
•Use and understanding of Product Data Management Systems, Change Control processes and New Product Introduction.
•Mechanical component/system calculations and analysis using engineering principles
•Finite Element Analysis
•Skills in creating comprehensive test reports, white papers and presentations containing complex information
•Ability to develop strong working relationships with cross functional personnel
•Excellent analytical, organizational, communications, and writing skills


•Bachelor`s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
•Minimum of 5 years related work experience
•Medical product design experience a plus
