Job Purpose and Scope:
To locate prospective customers with a need to obtain a mortgage loan secured by residential real estate.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Prospect for mortgage loan customers
  2. Develop relationships with professional Realtors, Home Builders, and internal bank partners
  3. Create rapport and trust with customers and referring partners
  4. Counsel with customers to identify mortgage loan needs and options
  5. Assist in the processing and closing of the loan in a professional manner that is profitable to the bank and creates customer loyalty
  6. Take complete, accurate, and compliant loan applications
  7. Order credit reports and resolve all discrepancies
  8. Input loan information into computer systems
  9. Utilize Automated Underwriting Systems for decisioning loans
  10. Order appraisals
  11. Cross sell the customer on the use of other Bank products
  12. Proactively communicate loan status and progress to the customer
  13. Exercise discretion and independent judgment
  14. Drive an automobile
  15. Maintain good punctuality and attendance to work

    Marginal Job Duties:
  1. Analyze property appraisals for Investor compliance

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  1. Ability to work without close supervision
  2. Ability to meet strangers and create trust and rapport
  3. Excellent computer skills for preparation of application packages
  4. Knowledge of loan requirements for FHA, VA, and conventional loans
  5. Knowledge of interest rates, points, and fees for mortgage loans
  6. Knowledge of the basic elements required for closing a mortgage loan
  7. Knowledge of the real estate appraisals
  8. Ability to read and analyze credit reports
  9. Knowledge of basic Income Tax Forms and ability to analyze data
  10. Ability to develop a personal marketing plan, including ability to self-start
  11. Ability to drive an automobile

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. At least one year previous experience in mortgage department
  3. At least one year of experience with sales
  4. Valid driver's license and good driving record
