Loan Processor (Banc of California)

The Loan Processor is responsible for processing a pipeline of loan application packages from origination to funding. Duties will include working closely with loan officers, preparing loan documents, obtaining and verifying applicant information and communicating with all parties involved in the loan process.
Ensures compliance with established Company policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position including but not limited to the following: Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Bank Secrecy Act in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering and Customer Information Program, Right to Financial Privacy Act (state and federal) and Community Reinvestment Act.
Responsibilities:
  • Obtain required documentation to complete loan files. This includes but is not limited to: Title report, Escrow items including HUD, Credit supplements, HOA docs, Additional documentation the borrower may have, ie. Pay stubs etc., Verifications (mortgage, rental, employment and deposit)
  • Maintain an open line of communication / correspondence between all involved parties. This includes and is not limited to Borrower, Escrow, Title, Loan Officer, Underwriter, and Investor.
  • Review documentation including but not limited to: Appraisals, Title report, Verifications, Income documentation, Child support and Divorce paperwork.
  • Income Calculation.
  • Execution of automated underwriting system.
  • Review, request and satisfy the following when applicable: Subordination of existing liens, Clearance of judgments / lien on title and or credit.
  • Verification of vesting and deed request when applicable.

Qualifications
These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.
  • High school diploma and work related experience to include 3 years processing mortgage loans in a retail lending environment. Some exposure to government loans preferred. Work related experience should consist of a credit or loan processing background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Intermediate level of work experience, knowledge and training in all loan servicing activities and terminology.
  • Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.
  • Intermediate knowledge of title policies and related loan regulations such as RESPA, HMDA and other Bank lending policies on loans to directors.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
