Jr. Loan Processor (Banc of California)

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for processing a pipeline of loan application packages from origination to funding. Works closely with loan officers, preparing loan documents, obtaining and verifying applicant information and communicating with all parties involved in the loan process. Performs all duties in accordance with the company's policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Obtains required documentation to complete loan files. This includes but is not limited to: title reports and escrow items such as HUD, credit supplements, HOA documentation, additional documentation the borrower may have, pay stubs, verifications (mortgage, rental, employment and deposit), etc.
2. Maintains an open line of communication and correspondence between involved parties. This includes and is not limited to Borrower, Escrow, Title, Loan Officer, Underwriter, and Investor.
3. Reviews documentation for accuracy and completeness including but not limited to: appraisals, title reports, verifications, income documents, child support and divorce paperwork, etc.
4. Performs income calculation as necessary on borrower(s).
5. Reviews, requests and satisfies the following when applicable: subordination of existing liens, clearance of judgments and clearance of liens on title and or credit.
6. Performs verification of vesting and deed requests when applicable.

11. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    1. Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position including but not limited to the following: Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Fair Housing Act (FHA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Customer Information Program (CIP), Right to Financial Privacy Act (RFPA, state and federal) and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).

    2. Basic level of work experience, knowledge and training in all loan processing activities and terminology.
    3. Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.
    4. Basic knowledge of title policies and related loan regulations such as RESPA, HMDA and other Bank lending policies on loans to directors.
    5. Effective organizational and time management skills.
    6. Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    7. Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
    8. Intermediate math skills; calculate interest and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
    9. Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
    10. Ability to complete routine forms, use existing form letters, and/or conduct routine oral communication.
    11. Ability to communicate with individuals utilizing a telephone; requires ability to hear and speak effectively on the telephone.
    12. Ability to work with general supervision while performing duties.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSES:
    1. High School Diploma and a minimum of 1 year experience working in a related field. Work related experience should consist of a credit or loan processing background.
    2. Mortgage banking experience preferred.
