Underwrites residential mortgage loans in accordance with FHA, VA, USDA and Conventional guidelines ensuring compliance with agency and Acopia standards. Reviews and verifies all borrower data submissions and decisions files based on guidelines and underwriting expertise. Demonstrates strong knowledge of lending guidelines and is able to communicate these to loan officers,, loan processors, and sales associates. Upon review completion, decides to approve or deny the borrower for the loan amount requested committing the company's financial resources to fulfill the approved loan.
Essential Job Duties:

1. Demonstrates strong decision-making capabilities based on thorough understanding of underwriting guidelines and procedures, creditor financial analysis techniques, and Acopia requirements when evaluating loan applications.
2. Delivers strong attention to detail on data review and guidelines and exercises judgment in regards to borrower's ability to repay the loan obligation.
3. Performs credit and property analysis on loan files submitted within the time frame established by department management.
4. Performs timely reviews of conditions submitted as well as loan resubmissions.
5. Provides exemplary customer service to both internal staff and third party vendors.
6. Works in a team environment in an effort to achieve business and volume goals and assists team members when needed
7. Maintains quality and production standards as defined by Acopia.

Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications (Minimum Required Experience, Education, Knowledge/Skills/Abilities, Essential Physical Demands):

• 3+ years Mortgage Underwriting experience with at least one year in a Wholesale Environment.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems and make decisions in an independent manner.
• Strong communication, organization and time management skills.
• Expertise and knowledge of lending guidelines in at least two lending areas - FHA, VA, USDA and/or Conventional.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• DE Certification, SAR, LAPP Certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
