Mortgage Loan Originator (Harvard University Employees Credit Union)

Reporting to the SVP of Real Estate Lending, the Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and sells HUECU mortgage products to meet established production goals.

Responsibilities

:

In this ongoing sales role, the Mortgage Loan Originator continually develops and maintains a quality network of relationships that serves as recurring source of referrals for new lending opportunities. A MLO's network may consist of real estate professionals, professional and personal contacts as well as other valuable referral sources, and is enhanced by MLO's regular participation in business development opportunities, community efforts to promote homeownership and professional organizations.

The MLO responds to member inquires and referrals that are from both their own contacts and from other HUECU business channels. The MLO conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determines member financing objectives, advises members of product and pricing policies and guidelines, and gathers any additional required information. The MLO ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment of professional ethics, and complying with all Federal and State compliance policies.

Meets with borrowers as necessary during various stages of the loan process. Utilizes HUECU training materials, referral tools and other resources to provide accurate and up to date loan program policy information to both external and internal business partners. Provides complete loan applications. Ensures exceptional member experience by overseeing loan process from originations to close and providing on-going communications to member and business partners. Achieves production goals as established.

Activities/Tasks:
New Business Development: Develops business referral network through marketing, cold-calling, and networking activities. Participates in HUECU financial literacy efforts to promote home ownership as required.

Loan Application Process: Meets with prospective members. Reviews and analyzes credit and financial data. Determines borrower's financing objectives and goals. Presents appropriate HUECU products and programs and explains guidelines. Apprises of pricing and lock rate requirements. Identifies appropriate opportunities to sell additional products. Collects and scans supporting documentation to HUECU LOS platform, as needed. Completes member applications and uploads/transfers to HUECU LOS. Administers loan closings on Home Equity and Second mortgages, as needed. Organizes and provides mortgage presentations to the community, as required.

Loan Management: Works with various HUECU staff to ensure that loan documents and conditions are provided by member within seven days or as dictated by HUECU. Provides ongoing communication to members regarding loan status.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

A minimum of five years experience in bank or credit union mortgage originations required.

Must possess current NMLS registration or successfully obtain NMLS registration within two months of hire to retain position.

A thorough background and finger print check will be required within that time frame, if registration or renewal is required.

Additional Qualifications

Must have an understanding of underwriting loans to meet secondary market guidelines.

Familiarity with state and federal banking laws.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing across a variety of audiences.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel software and database management.

Must be detail-oriented with solid time management skills and the ability to organize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Previous sales experience preferred and ability to work cooperatively and possess a friendly demeanor.

Must meet SAFE Act requirements.

Additional Information

NMLS Registration required within two months of hire to retain position, if not already obtained.
