Mortgage Loan Officer 1 (Travis Credit Union)

Educates prospective applicants of the best home loan for them. Quotes and explains rates and terms. Sells and originates mortgage loans to maximize loan volume within the guidelines of TCU policy, procedures and government regulations. Pre-qualifies members for Conventional First and Second mortgages, and cross-sells other TCU products/services, based on the needs of the member. Ensures all required documents are accurately completed and sent to members within regulation guidelines. Tracks pipeline to ensure loans are processed according to established priorities, and keeps members informed of loan progress. Delivers quality member service at all times. Meets sales, loan production and member service goals in support of the organizational objectives and member needs.

Required Skills Minimum 2 years of mortgage processing or origination to include selling and processing 1st mortgage Conventional and 2nd mortgage loan originations in a mortgage-banking environment. Previous credit analyst experience preferred; or minimum 2 years experience as a TCU Financial Services/Member Service Representative, with experience entering data in the Prime Alliance system. PC skills to include word-processing, spreadsheets and Outlook. Experience with industry-related software programs. Working knowledge of real estate lending criteria (Client, FHLMC, FHA/VA) and federal and state regulations. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Well organized with excellent customer service skills. Ability to calculate rates and ratios. Detail oriented and accurate typing. Ability to complete assigned tasks within strict timeframes. Ability to self-direct, use independent judgment, and multi-task with proficiency. Working knowledge of credit union products and service. Sales aptitude and the ability to cross-sell TCU products and serves and meet established sales, loan production and member service goals in support of the organizational objectives and member needs. Understands the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and ensures compliance through monitoring and reporting of member activity as appropriate. High school diploma or equivalent, or AA degree in Business or related field in lieu of experience listed below.

This position requires National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the terms of the SAFE Act. Pursuant to the SAFE Act requirements, position incumbents must register with the federal registry system and maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE Act requirements. Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements, including acceptable background investigation results. Failure to register successfully or to maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE Act will affect eligibility for continued employment in this position.
