Mortgage Loan Originator (J.F. Shea Co., Inc)

The Mortgage Loan Originator position is responsible for capturing and closing mortgage loans solicited for Shea Mortgage and reports directly to the Vice President of Shea Mortgage for the Northern California Division.

  • Meet with homebuyers to complete loan applications and review loan programs.
  • Discuss pre-qualifications and program options with Borrowers
  • Meet with Sales Counselors to review loan status and build strong, trusting relationships
  • Proactively communicate with Borrowers
  • Inputs complete and accurate loan applications in the system
  • Lock Borrowers interest rates and communicates effectively interest rates
  • Attend Sales meetings and pre-construction meetings
  • Maintaining a competitive edge by consistently seeking to remain apprised of changes within the industry
  • Knowledge of loan programs and guidelines is imperative
  • Guide the buyers to the loan program which best meets their needs after a thorough assessment of the individual client's income, assets, credit and long-term goals
  • Clear and ongoing communication must be maintained at all times between sales counselor, homebuyer, loan processor and management to ensure seamless transaction
  • Proactively deal with issues which may arise
  • Ability to sell loans in an honest and creative way
  • Ability to establish and maintain priorities to ensure maximum productivity
  • Maintain empathy for the customers at all times
  • Self-motivated and driven to help in Branch to succeed in meeting established goals
  • Analyze customer financial information
Works under supervision of the Vice President and on own initiative performs standard and advanced customer service duties. Must be self-motivated and able to work successfully in a team environment; have a strong customer service focus; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected. Must have ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects and assignments, be detail-oriented, conscientious with a dependable work ethic. Exceptional organizational, verbal and written communications, and people skills are required. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relations with vendors, agencies and internal and external customers. Must show ability to prioritize responsibilities to consistently meet deadlines.   • High School diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of mortgage experience originating loans and/or 10 years working in a related position with a documented record of high customer satisfaction
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Sincere desire to serve others
  • Proven track record in providing exceptional service to internal and external customers
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
  • Demonstrated ability to develop
  • Computer literate in MS Suite, Excel, Word, and Outlook
