The role of a Loan Originator is to proactively market and originate mortgage loan products in order to meet individual productivity and quality goals while representing Fairway Independent Mortgage. The Loan Originator will maintain existing client relationships as well as identify and develop potential new customer opportunities.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Establish, develop and maintain referral network of real estate agents, builders, and other professionals who can provide on-going sources of business referrals
  • Make sales calls on potential or existing customers in order to develop new business and/or retain existing business
  • Keep informed of trends, competitors, changes and developments in the local real estate market
  • Develop marketing plan to meet and exceed Fairway's goals for loan quality and productivity
  • Maintains knowledge of all Fairway policies and guidelines and understanding of all company products
  • Stay informed with changing rules, regulations and guidelines from Client, FHLMC, FHA, and VA in addition to other investors and agencies
  • Advise consumers of Fairway's lending guidelines and procedures
  • Negotiate price, terms, and conditions with mortgages
Required Education/Experience:
All Loan Originators must have an active license with Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation through the NMLS for every state in which they conduct business before representing themselves as a Mortgage Loan Originator.
  • High school diploma or GED required, college degree preferred
  • Must be SAFE Act Compliant and a licensed loan originator in the state in which loans are being originated
  • Knowledge of conventional and government (FHA/VA) lending requirements
  • Experience must include the following Retail Loan Origination / Sales experience:
  • Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2+ years of recent origination experience, in Mortgage Banking and MUST have a consistent source of referral based business from realtors, builders, attorneys, financial professionals, etc.
  • Must have proven loan origination documented from the last 2 consecutive years
  • Ability to prioritize workload and handle a pipeline of loans
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experienced Loan Officer – 2-5 years experience
  • Knowledge of conventional and government (FHA\VA) lending requirements
  • Knowledge of processing/underwriting/closing requirements
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations, where applicable, governing real estate lending
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Ability to build quality client relationships
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Acts as a team player
