Underwriter Coordinator (Envoy Mortgage, Ltd)

Requirements:

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assign loans electronically in accordance with individual underwriting authority
2. Assist Team Leads with effective load balancing to ensure service levels are met
3. Primary contact for team phone and e-mail. Distribute calls and questions as applicable.
4. Complete clerical functions for team leads as needed.
5. Preliminary review of conditions submitted to ensure that all are complete before loan is assigned.
6. Preliminary review of loan files requiring external MI approval to ensure package is complete.
7. Upload loans to MI partners for underwriting if required.
8. Assist senior underwriters with clearing conditions as directed
9. Other duties as assigned by Team Lead.

SIGNATURE AUTHORITY

Signature authority limited to current Client limit on validation only if recommended by Team Lead. No single signature authority provided. No manual underwriting authority.

EXCEPTION AUTHORITY

No exception or override authority granted.

PRODUCT AUTHORITY

Loans that receive an approval through Desktop Underwriter or Loan Prospector that are eligible for sale to either Client or FHLMC only.


PERFORMANCE METRICS:

Metric #1: Reports from Client, investors, and Quality Control indicate acceptable error rate in validation.
Target: Less than 5% error rate.

Metric #2: Feedback from investors indicates acceptable loan and appraisal quality.
Target: Less than 5% response regarding unacceptable appraisals.

Metric #3 Activities contribute to team service level of 48 hour turn time and conditions cleared same day if in by 3 PM CST
Target: All current loans assigned by 3 PM CST daily.
Conditions reviewed and cleared same day if submitted by 3 PM CST.
Upload MI files within 4 hours of clearance.
Return telephone calls with in two hours
Return e-mail within 4 hours.


COMMUNICATES REGULARLY WITH THE FOLLOWING:
(List of individuals with whom the associate will be communicating on a regular basis, i.e. Senior Level Management, Realtors, Outside Vendors, etc.)

1. Branch management
2. Sales staff
3. Customers/branchees
4. Local, regional, and corporate underwriting


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

I. SKILLS: (Skills that are required to perform the job, i.e. computer skills, strong oral and written skills, presentation skills, team player.)
• Ability to review documents and spot inconsistencies and errors
• Ability to accurately calculate income in accordance with standard industry practice.
• Ability to review appraisals, assess accurate and appropriate data, and determine value range
• Accuracy in data input.
• Ability to review guidelines, memos, manuals; absorb and comprehend information; incorporate changing guidelines into everyday work.
• Excellent oral skills required.
• Ability to work within a fast-paced environment that often demands multiple tasks in a short time frame.


II. KNOWLEDGE: (What specific or general knowledge is required to perform the job, whether in the mortgage industry, banking, etc.)
• Familiar with Client and FHLMC Underwriting Guidelines.
• Familiar with input into and use of Desktop Underwriter and Loan Prospector.
• Familiar with credit reports and credit standards.
• Familiar with standard appraisal practices.


III. EXPERIENCE: (Required experience to perform job duties and the number of years required to perform the position.)
• Minimum 2 years processing or wholesale coordinator experience.
• Junior underwriting experience preferred.
• Must complete Level I underwriting test with score of 90 or higher before an offer is made


IV. EDUCATION: (If a college or graduate degree is required in a specific field and if equivalent work experience is acceptable.)
• Minimum high school education
• College courses in mortgage banking and/or finance a plus
• Industry training courses in underwriting and appraisal review preferred
