Senior Loan Closer (Dallas Capital Bank)

Under minimal supervision, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, provides support to the supervisor of the Loan Closing Department. Responsible for all loan document preparation and funding. Individual must be able to communicate effectively with customers and all lending personnel to ensure the bank's security interest is properly protected. Using independent judgment assist with special projects, act as a back-up for various functions in Loan Administration, and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor and/or manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as the primary support for the Loan Administration Manager. This individual also serves as back-up support for all other positions within the Loan Closing Department.
  • Responsible for all document preparation on Laser Pro.
  • Responsible for requesting loan documents from the attorneys on the larger commercial and real estate loans; interim construction loans.
  • Have a thorough understanding and knowledge of lending regulations and compliance issues associated with various types of loans. (Commercial, Real Estate, Consumer, Letters of Credit, Participations)
  • Interface with loan officers and lending staff to obtain all loan documents prior to closing. (i.e.: compliance with loan agreements, financial statements, title work necessary to perfect lien, corporate resolutions, appropriate fees, etc.)
  • Responsible for ordering and reviewing necessary documentation such as appraisals, appraisal reviews, title commitments, title endorsements, environmentals, flood search, lien search, good standing certificate, etc.
  • Interface with attorneys, title companies, insurance companies, and various other outside entities on large commercial and real estate loans prepared by attorneys to obtain necessary documents and coordinate closings.
  • Perform loan closings on commercial and real estate loans not closed through a title company.
  • Perform final review of all loan documents at time of closing for accuracy, prior to funding.
  • Responsible for funding all loan closings.
  • Responsible for HMDA and CRA processing ensuring annual government report is accurate and timely.
  • Ensures employees have appropriate training and other resources to perform their jobs.
  • Assists with providing continual evaluation of processes and procedures; suggesting methods to improve area of operations.
  • Works as a member of special or ongoing projects that are important to area/process improvement.
  • Assists with establishing work procedures and processes that support the company and departmental standards.
  • Complete and pass required training courses by due date. (i.e. Compliance – BSA/AML, Identity Theft and IT Security)
  • Complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assist Loan Administration Manager when needed.
  • Back-up all positions in Loan Administration when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and understand complex materials.
  • Ability to effectively explain complex information to customers and the general community on the telephone and face-to-face.
  • High level of ability to apply standard business etiquette and deal calmly with rude or angry people.
  • Ability to establish smooth working relationships, resolve interpersonal conflicts, correct misunderstandings or errors, and apply basic staff etiquette in dealing with other employees.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws (Reg Z, HMDA, CRA) pertaining to lending, collateral, perfection of liens and valid checks.
  • Knowledge of various types of lending contracts such as Deed of Trust, Mechanic's Lien, Promissory Note, Security Agreement, UCC's, etc.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of lending regulations and compliance issues associated with various types of loans. (Commercial, Real Estate, Consumer, Letters of Credit, Participations).
  • Ability to perform high volumes of work with regular interruptions under deadline pressure without losing accuracy.
  • Ability to use good judgment – define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to changes in work environment with a positive attitude providing an example to other department employees.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task in a high pressure environment.
  • Ability to use ten key by touch.
  • Ability to use a filing system.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to make routine decisions quickly and independently, based on standard policy or procedure.
  • Deadline-driven with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to input and retrieve routine data using a series of computer screens, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of basic banking terminology.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication.
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures.
  • Ability to type 20 words per minute.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience required. College degree preferred. Paralegal background or similar certificate and equivalent experience in a related field preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years of applicable banking experience, including loan servicing and documentation with a thorough understanding and knowledge of banking/compliance regulations associated with the lending function.
  • Leadership experience helpful. Software experience with LaserPro and Centrax helpful.
WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT:
HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.
Some variation in work hours due to special projects and deadlines.
TRAVEL: None

Generally comfortable environment, largely sedentary work, with some moving about the building. Regular interruption. High volume of repetitious tasks with heavy deadline pressure. Pressure related to handling large dollar sums without error; can incur financial losses for the bank as a result of inaccurate loan documentation and/or funding. Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
