Purpose of Job As a Mortgage Processor for USAA, you will serve as the primary point of contact for the mortgage process after the loan is submitted to Fulfillment. With a focus on ensuring loan applications are accurate and supporting documentation is complete, the Real Estate Processor is responsible for providing quality loan processing while delivering an exceptional member service experience. The Real Estate Processor works with Underwriting and various other cross-functional teams to ensure the successful and timely approval and closing of mortgage loans to meet our member's needs.

Job Requirements
We are currently seeking talented Mortgage Processor for our San Antonio, TX office. There are multiple start dates for this position in January, February, and March 2017 .

Under direct supervision, performs all processing, decision, and pre-closing tasks required to assemble a loan from point of application to submission.

Processes VA, Conventional and/or Home Equity loans. Seeks guidance from team members to resolve issues and identifies appropriate issues for escalation.

May respond to member and third party inquiries to keep appropriate parties informed of loan status and meets service level objectives in the areas of member satisfaction, speed, and efficiency of file delivery to completing mortgage applications.

May initiate follow-up phone calls to applicants and third parties to obtain necessary loan documentation, title and/or collateral information.

Ensures all required documentation is in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Contacts credit bureaus, employers, and other sources in order to check applicants' credit. May analyze financial and credit data to determine the acceptability of the loan risk in support of bank, investor, and regulatory policies.

Coordinates closings with members and may assist with post-closing compliance paperwork.


Ability to attend up to 14 weeks of paid structured classroom training beginning, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.

You must successfully complete a training program. USAA training programs include classroom instruction, computer-based lessons, and instructor-led activities with systems simulations.

Employees attending training are expected to meet USAA's established standards for performance, attendance and conduct.


Ability to work a five day 40 hour work week Monday through Friday from 7:00am-6:00pm.

A 30 percent Shift Premium pay would apply to work hours scheduled after 6pm, Mon-Fri & weekends. Overtime will be required as business dictates.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

2 years of customer service experience or Bachelor's Degree OR military service OR 1 year of customer service experience plus Associate's Degree.


Military Service

Bachelors Degree.

Real Estate lending experience.

Experience frequently communicating with customers.

Call center experience.

In addition to other USAA applicant screenings, individuals hired for positions responsible for mortgage loan origination, processing and closing must be federally registered on the National Mortgage and Licensing System Registry (NMLSR) after being hired. The NMLSR will require individuals to provide identification information, financial services related employment history, and disclose certain criminal, civil judicial or regulatory/licensing actions that have been brought against them. It also requires that they be fingerprinted for an FBI background check.
