RPM Mortgage, Inc. is currently seeking a Mortgage Underwriter II to support our Deal Desk in Lakewood, Ohio. The Mortgage Underwriter II acts as the in-house resource for loan products, loan structures and guidelines. Provides prompt, accurate information and guidance to Loan Origination staff's inquiries. Reviews and understands investor overlays, as well as, basic credit eligibility and implement this knowledge into daily workload.

  • Advise internal customers by analyzing loan scenarios and assisting in structuring loan deals, requesting further details about loan file in order to better serve the client as needed
  • Provide accurate supporting documentation and requirements to internal customers
  • Study and learn specific guidelines, investor overlays, and necessary loan criteria; advise clients on which loan product and investor best meets the needs of the borrower
  • Attend department meetings that announce changes and new information for products and pricing
  • Run pricing engine and understand pricing matrices
  • Interpret automated underwriting systems (AUS) findings
  • Manage 20-day close pipeline on a daily basis
  • Determine methods, work sequence, scheduling and how to achieve objectives of assignments; proceed alone at routine work; receive occasional check of work while in progress; operate within specific policy guidelines
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and across departments
  • 3-4 years experience in Mortgage Banking is required
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience required. Some college coursework preferred.
  • Computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications. Prior knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Direct Endorsement (DE) certification is preferred.
  • Underwriting or junior underwriting qualifications or equivalent work experience with residential mortgages, loan guidelines, specialty loan products, loan origination or processing is desired.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills plus proper telephone protocol.
  • Visibility of work requires attention to detail, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Tactfulness and proven ability to handled sensitive and confidential situations.
