Closing Paralegal (James Doran Company & Humanities Foundation)

Humanities Foundation is a regional leader in the development of environmentally friendly affordable and workforce housing. By utilizing Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and other funding sources, our talented Acquisition & Development team researches and acquires land which is later developed into tax credit apartment and senior apartment communities managed in house by JDC Management, LLC. We currently have properties in SC, GA, LA and VA.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Closing Paralegal to work independently and collaborate with our Land Development & Acquisition team, Vice President, lenders and contracted attorneys to coordinate the land acquisition closing process from file opening to post-closing.
Primary Duties
  • Locate, review and interpret various documents for real estate transactions
  • Assist with preparation of initial document drafts
  • Order/obtain title insurance commitments and lien searches
  • Assemble all closing documents
  • Preparing closing checklists and tracking completion of checklist items
  • Review all legal closing documents for accuracy
  • Obtain necessary signatures and notarize closing papers
  • Review all closing documents with closing attorney prior to closing
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
*The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of Real Estate Closing Paralegal experience and is looking for a long term career as a Paralegal. This position will not turn into an in-house attorney role.*
