Independent Bank currently has a Title Examiner position open in Lansing, Michigan at its East Lansing location on West Road. In this position, we expect you to be naturally driven, work well with tight timelines and multiple tasks and provide exceptional customer service.
Position Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for applying title underwriter guidelines to generate title commitments. In this position, you will review search results to determine insurability and transaction specific requirements and you will determine the title premium. The incumbent will work with the underwriter support unit and customer to resolve title issues. The qualified candidate for this position will hold a Michigan Resident Title Producer license or be able to gain the license within their first 90 days of employment.
Responsibilities:
  • Review recorded documents to determine insurability.
  • Assemble requirements on the title insurance commitment necessary to insure the title request, as per the title underwriter requirements and guidelines.
  • Calculates premiums and assists with the preparations and approval of documents.
  • Reads and maps legal descriptions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
