Mortgage Retail Loan Processor - Government (First California Mortgage Company)

Reporting Relationships: Position Reports to: Retail Operations Manager

Positions supervised: None Position Purpose:
Compiles, verifies and facilitates the set up of new loan files. Oversees the flow of the file from processing through funding and closing of the transaction. Insures accuracy of pipeline through monitoring and updating the file status data base. Contact person for assigned Loan Officers, Title/Escrow Companies, Appraisers for status.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
Reviews residential loan applications to verify that data is complete, accurate and meets established standards.

Completes and uploads processing checklist

Prepares 1003's, 1008

Verifies initial disclosures are accurate and compliant

Pulls and uploads FraudGuard and flood

Prepares and completes all verifications (VOE, VOM, VORs etc.) and HOA certifications (if applicable).

FHA loans - obtain Case Query, CAIRVRS and case numbers and enter ADP code in IHM

Orders Appraisals, credit supplements, EMD receipt, CPL's, payoffs, LDP/GSA, SSN verifications as needed and wiring instructions

Address any OFAC hits

Clear data checks throughout the process

Respond to QC items

Does initial scrub of the file and sends needs list to LO/LOA and borrower

Signs off all processor related conditions

Submits mortgage loan application files for underwriting approval.

Compiles all prior to Doc and prior to Funding conditions.

Submits and tracks loans to investors for prior approval, registration and exceptions.

Submits brokered out loans to investor and tracks loans on the investor website

Verifies accuracy of fees and closing information prior to doc requests.

Prepares doc requests and uploads Doc Prep checklist. Corrects any inaccuracies before submitting doc requests.

Informs Loan Officers on changes in status of loans (pricing, stages, conditions, etc.)

Updates IHM prepares cancelled/withdrawn letters

Reviews pipeline daily and is responsible for keeping pipeline accurate and current and timelines are met

Re-discloses loans to ensure we are in compliance

Participates in small group activities, assisting other staff members with daily tasks.

Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting other team members as needed.

Maintains a high level of customer service with quick response times and accurate information (both internally and externally). Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:


Required Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree preferred
Required Knowledge :
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Basic mathematical knowledge; ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and applicable software. (Datatrac, Microsoft office, Microsoft Outlook and Calyx Point)
Experience Required :
  • Three to five years mortgage experience with exposure to underwriting guidelines and rate sheets.
  • FHA experience required, VA experience preferred
Skills/Abilities :
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions.
  • Basic administrative and/or office skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Organization skills - how to prioritize tasks to meet or exceed monthly goals
  • Ability to operate a PC, including manipulation of word processing. DU, LP and Doc Magic required.
